Please, may the Bhagavatas benefit many beings, bring happiness to many beings, have compassion for many beings, and for the sake of the benefit, medicine, and happiness of the great multitude of beings, gods, and humans, please turn the wheel of Dharma. Please reveal the wheel of Dharma. Please uphold the Dharma. Please perform the giving of Dharma. Please ignite the lamp of Dharma. Please send down the rain of Dharma. Please beat the drum of Dharma. Please beat the great drum of Dharma. Please blow the conch of Dharma. Please erect the pillar of Dharma. Please lead beings into the practice of tranquility. I prostrate and pray to all the Buddhas, the Bhagavatas, who in this way desire to relinquish the activities of speech in the ten directions of the world. Please, compassionate Bhagavatas, for the sake of benefiting, bringing happiness, and having compassion for many beings, and for the sake of the gods and humans, from turning the wheel of Dharma to leading beings into the practice of tranquility, please do not pass into nirvana, but remain forever. The fourth is the heap of dedication. Furthermore, from beginningless time until now, while wandering in samsara, whether to the Three Jewels, or to other individuals, or even to those who have gone to the birth-place of animals, even if it is giving a single morsel of food or drink, taking refuge, properly taking the foundation of training, confessing sins, rejoicing in virtue, urging the turning of the wheel of Dharma, and praying, etc., whatever roots of virtue have been manifestly accumulated through the three doors, all of those, having gathered, measured, and combined them into one, with a mind that is tamed, liberated, and without grasping, I give to all sentient beings. Just as the Buddhas, the Bhagavatas, know, see, and contemplate, may I dedicate all my roots of virtue to all sentient beings. May all sentient beings possess a wish-fulfilling jewel in their hands. May they possess an inexhaustible treasury of the sky, enjoyment, merit, Dharma, wisdom, and courage, and may they also attain the omniscient wisdom. I dedicate all the roots of virtue to all sentient beings.

Represented by the roots of virtue arising from …, all the merits accumulated in the three times, and all that will be accumulated, are gathered together, measured, and completely dedicated to the unsurpassed Bodhi. By the power of this root of virtue, may I and all sentient beings attain the unsurpassed, perfectly complete, and perfect enlightenment. Just as the Bodhisattvas of the past dedicated their roots of virtue for the sake of Bodhi, the Bodhisattvas of the future will dedicate, and the Bodhisattvas of the present are dedicating, so too, I dedicate all roots of virtue for the sake of attaining omniscience. With whatever kind, form, characteristic, and dharma nature of the root of virtue that becomes unsurpassed when dedicated, I dedicate in that way. Just as the Bhagavan Shakyamuni Buddha, and other Buddhas, having attained the unobstructed omniscient wisdom, turned the wheel of Dharma and benefited immeasurable beings, may I and all sentient beings also realize perfect and complete enlightenment, turn the wheel of Dharma, and be able to mature and liberate beings. Then recite "Homage" etc., and "Wonderful Sons" etc. These are slightly increased or decreased, but are basically the same as the sutra text. Third, regarding the benefits: The sutra itself says: Shariputra, therefore, any son or daughter of good family who wishes to obtain unobstructed and completely pure knowledge of all dharmas should confess their karmic obscurations separately in this way. It is also said: Those who desire to obtain the status of royalty, ministers, Brahmins, wealthy householders with great wealth and abundant enjoyment, as well as the gods of the desire realm, and birth as gods in the form realm, and the wisdom of Shravakas and Buddhas, should also confess their karmic obscurations in this way. Again, it says: Shariputra, this is the accumulation of rejoicing. Any son or daughter of good family who rejoices with this rejoicing

One generates immeasurable accumulations of merit. Shariputra, sentient beings in the three-thousandfold great thousand world system, or as many sentient beings as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River, all of whom become Arhats, those who have exhausted defilements. Any son or daughter of good family who serves them with clothes, food, medicine for the sick, and other necessities, is surpassed by one who rejoices in this (merit). By rejoicing, one generates exceedingly many, countless, and immeasurable merits. Thus it is said. In that same (sutra), it is said: Shariputra, any son or daughter of good family who fills the three-thousandfold great thousand world system, or as many world systems as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River, with the seven precious jewels, and offers them to the Tathagatas, is surpassed by one who urges and requests those Tathagatas to turn the wheel of Dharma. That (merit) generates even more countless and immeasurable merits. Thus it is said. Again, in that same (sutra), it is said: Shariputra, this is an accumulation of increase. The previous accumulation of merit does not even approach one percent of this accumulation of merit, and even an analogy cannot be tolerated. Thus it is said. Again, in that same (sutra), it is said: Lord of the Gods, this category of Dharma is cherished by Bodhisattva Mahasattvas for accomplishing roots of virtue and for continuously cutting off karmic obscurations. Thus it is said, and these should be known. Thinking that it would be very beneficial to practice in accordance with the meaning of the sutra, as it appears in the sutra, the Shakya monk named Shedrup (Explaining and Accomplishing), from the Chone residence itself, with reverence and diligence, initiated and closely composed this writing. May this also benefit the teachings and all sentient beings! The method of practicing the meaning of the sutra on cutting off karmic obscurations is a great source of merit.
