If I speak words that are not Dharma, it contradicts the Dharma; if I speak according to the Dharma, all Tibetans will rise up as enemies. If I say nothing at all, everyone will despise me as a fool. Alas! What should I do now? It is said that upholding the teachings through listening and explaining, is when a wise person, relying on renunciation and pure discipline, explains the scriptures to listeners who are impartial, seeking the truth, and intelligent. Gathering a retinue out of desire for fame and gain in this life, teaching the Dharma to those who are faithless and unwilling, and not practicing it, becomes a cause for generating attachment and aversion. Such teaching and listening are also a snare of samsara. It is said that upholding the teachings through debate, is after knowing all the tenets of one's own and others' schools of thought, for the sake of leading others onto the correct path, using reason to refute wrong views. If one is greedy for fame, wanting to denigrate others, engaging in deceitful debate, using harsh words, harboring malicious intent, speaking all sorts of nonsense, and burning the minds of others, such debate is also a cause of hell. It is said that prioritizing the benefit of others is the essence of Dharma, is when one knows the faculties, inclinations, and predispositions of those to be tamed, as well as the causes and conditions of past and future lives, not being attached to one's own benefit, but intending to tame those to be tamed. If one seeks profit, fame, comfort, and praise for oneself, and benefits others without clairvoyance, it is like flying in the sky without wings, not only failing to benefit others but also becoming a cause of one's own ruin. Those who were not tamed by the Buddhas of the past, and were not tamed by the great powerful bodhisattvas, if criticized, they generate anger; if praised, they generate arrogance; they are jealous of those who are higher, competitive with those who are equal, and arrogant towards those who are lower, harboring a harsh mind. Even if one speaks with words that are in accordance with the Dharma, attachment and aversion will arise. Such childish beings, I am unable to tame now; I should tame my own mind first! This body, achieved through hundreds of merits accumulated in the past, this leisure and endowment is extremely difficult to obtain. This is a great ship for crossing the ocean of suffering; do not waste it meaninglessly, make it a precious jewel. This life has no spare time, it quickly decays and perishes, like livestock being led to the slaughterhouse. With each moment, one is closer to death. Contemplate certainty and death, and become a precious jewel. Before the thought of doing things today and tomorrow is completed, the terrifying and dreadful Lord of Death comes to greet you, and when the breath stops and life ends at the edge of the bed, nothing other than the Dharma will help; become a precious jewel!

Here, for the sake of friends and enemies, Accumulating attachment, hatred, possessions, and gathering retinues, The retinue and possessions do not follow, One experiences the suffering of karmic results alone. Brahma, Indra, Wheel-turning Kings, etc., Even obtaining the happiness of samsara is unstable, After death, there is no escape from going to the lower realms, Generate renunciation from samsara, Jewel Accomplished! Therefore, may I quickly die and be reborn, By the great power of previously accumulated virtue, Be born in Tushita, pleasing Maitreya, May I obtain forbearance in the Dharma of non-arising! From now until the essence of enlightenment, Towards cherishing myself and all things, May the thought of grasping at them as real not arise, May I tirelessly engage solely in benefiting others! May all the suffering of the miserable beings suffering in the three lower realms, And other beings who are also full of suffering, May all suffering ripen upon me, May all beings be happy with the happiness of my virtue! Those who generate thoughts of benefit or harm towards me, Even slightly remembering or attending to, Or even just hearing the name of all beings, May they quickly attain supreme enlightenment! By the power of truth of the Three Jewels, And the blessings of the glorious lamas, And by the power of my pure intention, May the prayers I have made be accomplished as they are! This is called "The Source of Dharma - Treasury of the Holy Scriptures." Completed by Khuton, born from the light of the words of the great wise man, the man of valid cognition. Good! Good! Good! Sarva Mangalam! Colophon.
