Venerable Nagarjuna. Venerable Nagarjuna. Third, regarding how the prophesied individual benefited the teachings: Four hundred years after the Buddha's passing, in the southern region of Vidarbha, a wealthy Brahmin couple had no son. In a dream, a deity prophesied that if they offered teachings to a hundred Brahmins, they would have a son. They did as instructed and prayed, and after ten months, a boy was born. They consulted a fortune-teller, who said the omens were good, but the child would only live for seven days. When asked what could be done, the fortune-teller said that offering teachings to a hundred Brahmins would extend his life to seven months, and offering teachings to a hundred monks would extend it to seven years. Beyond that, there was no remedy. They did as instructed, and as the boy neared his seventh birthday, the parents couldn't bear the thought of seeing his corpse, so they sent him away with a servant to wander. They gradually traveled and saw the face of Khasarpani, and then gradually arrived at the gate of Nalanda Monastery. There, he recited poetic knowledge. At that time, the Brahmin Saraha was present and heard him. He brought him inside and asked him the reason for his plight. The teacher said that if he could become a monk, there might be a way. So he became a monk. The teacher initiated him into the mandala of Amitayus, the destroyer of death, and had him recite dharanis. Specifically, on the night of his seventh birthday, he cut the thread (symbolizing death), and he was liberated from the Lord of Death. He met his parents and was very happy. Then, he requested the teachings and instructions on the glorious Guhyasamaja and other texts from the Brahmin Saraha. After that, he took the abbot of Nalanda, Sragchen Dzin Zangpo, as his preceptor, received full ordination, and became known as the monk Palden. At that time, while serving as the steward of the Nalanda Sangha, a great famine occurred. He obtained alchemical substances from an island and transmuted them into gold, using it to sustain the Sangha and complete the summer retreat. The Sangha members saw people becoming emaciated and dying, and asked how the Sangha's sustenance was being maintained during the famine. He explained the previous events. Because he had not consulted the Sangha and had used Sangha property for personal sustenance, he was expelled from the monastery and ordered to build a million stupas and temples. After that, he attained accomplishments through practicing worldly and transcendental siddhis.

A person named "Tse Ge slong De je" wrote twelve treatises called "Ornament of Reasoning," refuted everything, and to tame them, taught the Dharma at Nalanda. At that time, two children listened to the Dharma and went underground. When asked who they were, they said they were nagas. The teacher said, "Bring the mud of the yakshas." They reported to the Naga King, who said, "Invite the teacher." So they invited the teacher. Knowing that it would be meaningful, the teacher went to the Naga's realm and taught the Dharma. At that time, the nagas asked him to stay, but the teacher said, "I have come to find mud to build a hundred thousand stupas and to invite the 'Hundred Thousand Verses.' I don't have time to stay. I might come later." So he invited a lot of mud, the 'Hundred Thousand Verses,' and a few letters. It is said that the nagas did not return a little bit from the bottom of the 'Hundred Thousand Verses.' After that, he built a hundred thousand stupas and so on with that mud, and the nagas helped. Most of it was completed, but some were not done because they did not go to the Naga's realm, so he became known as Nagarjuna. After that, in the Likara forest, he turned trees into gold and made great offerings. At that time, he gave a lot of gold to two old Brahmins, who became faithful. The old Brahmin became an attendant, listened to the Dharma, and died. The teacher became Naga Bodhi. After that, he went to Pata Besa in the east and built many temples, and also built in the Radha area. He wanted to turn a bell-like stone into gold, but the gods stopped him. On the way to a place with unpleasant sounds, in the city of Salamana, a boy named Jitaka's palm was prophesied to become a king. He went to a place with unpleasant sounds, hung his clothes on a tree, and when he was bathing, the clothes were taken away. The teacher said, "That's mine." They said, "We are the owners." Then they looked. After doing some things there, he left. The previous boy had become a king, and he offered many jewels. In return, the teacher gave a garland of Dharma jewels. The Dharma activities of that teacher: managing the Sangha, building many stupas and temples, surrounding Bodh Gaya with a stone lattice fence, and building the layout of the glorious Dhanyakataka Stupa. Regarding treatises, for inner science, the main one showing the view is the "Madhyamaka without Extremes," showing with scripture is the "Collection of Madhyamaka Praises," and showing with reason is the "Collection of Reasoning."
