And so on, all the dharmas and all the objects of the six senses, whatever is seen, that is emptiness. If there were a single dharma that was not emptiness, then a careless consciousness would engage in afflictions, and afflictions would increase the root of samsara. Therefore, if one meditates on emptiness, one will not be stained by the characteristics of things, and with mindfulness, there will be no faults. "Knowing the nature of the mind" means: without realizing its own nature as it is, no matter how one speaks of appearance-emptiness, clarity-emptiness, bliss-emptiness, awareness-emptiness, elaboration and non-elaboration, one cannot even see its own nature. Without thinking, without discriminating with the mind, what is its own primordial nature like? Thinking, "It must be like this," how can one know? "Emptiness and dependent arising" means: the basis of emptiness is like the reflection of a face in a mirror, the reflection appears due to the gathering of conditions. If it were not born from conditions, then the reflection should appear in the mirror from the beginning. Even though the reflection appears, the mirror is still the mirror, and the reflection has no substance. The mind is emptiness, although various conditions appear, it appears that way due to conditions. If it were not so, then emptiness should arise when it does not encounter conditions, but it does not arise. Although various things appear, the self-awareness of emptiness does not change. "No karma" means: karma refers to the absence of the three types of actions—virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral—done through the body. This is because the actor, the very nature of the mind, is realized as emptiness, so there is no karma. "No vipaka" means: because there is no actor, no vipaka will arise in the future. However, there are countless vipakas accumulated from beginningless time. If the actor is not realized as emptiness, then these will ripen. If one realizes that the actor is emptiness, one will not experience the vipaka of karma, just as when the sun rises, there is no place for darkness. If someone thinks that if the fruit produced by the previous cause does not ripen, then the fruit is not real, it is like the darkness cannot be cleared unless the sun rises, but it has indeed been cleared. If one now realizes that the actor is emptiness, then one will not experience the previous vipaka and the subsequent vipaka, so it is said to be without vipaka. "When causes and conditions gather" means:

If there is a single seed, and conditions such as water, fertilizer, and human effort are added, then just as a green sprout appears, similarly, if the mind is the cause, and conditions such as afflictions and conceptual thoughts are added, then the result of suffering arises. The mind is the cause, motivated by faith, abandoning the ten non-virtues, and practicing the ten virtues, then the result of happiness arises. This arising is what the Thuba (Sage) has said: All phenomena arise from causes. That cause is what the Thus Gone One (Tathagata) has said. Whatever is the cessation from that cause, the great ascetic has said thus. Do not commit any evil, fully practice virtue, subdue your own mind, this is the teaching of the Buddhas. Thus it is said. Therefore, karma exists. The so-called "karma exists" means that if one commits sinful, non-virtuous actions with body, speech, and mind, driven by the five poisons and the three poisons, then karma exists. Even so, do not harm others. Thus it is said. Vipāka (karmic result) exists, which means temporarily experiencing the suffering of the three lower realms, and ultimately experiencing the uninterrupted suffering of samsara. Considering this, the result of harm is suffering. Thus it is said. Therefore, vipāka exists. If one harms others, thinking that others will suffer, one becomes very afraid of experiencing suffering oneself. The so-called "karma exists" means abandoning the ten non-virtues and practicing the ten virtues with body, speech, and mind. Considering this, it is said: Do not commit any evil, fully practice virtue. Thus it is said. Vipāka means temporarily obtaining the perfect happiness of gods and humans, and ultimately obtaining the happiness of enlightenment and great enlightenment, which is nirvana. Considering this, it is said: The result of benefit is happiness. Wanting others to be happy and bestowing benefits, while oneself experiencing happiness, is like wanting to laugh but not being able to. Therefore, vipāka exists. Pramana (valid cognition) is the knowledge of reason, using reason to distinguish in one's own mind the object and subject of all phenomena, doubt, wrong views, and non-pramana. This mind, which is without arising, is the direct perception of yoga, the direct perception of self-awareness.
