Attention of mind, attention, Decision is determination. Compassion, sympathy, compassion, Compassion and sympathy; Abstinence (feminine), Abstinence, non-attachment also. Forbearance, patience, forbearance, Patience, loving-kindness is friendliness; View, view, doctrine, Doctrine, time may be. Craving and thirst, agitation, Ensnarer and clinging; Desire, tangle, attachment, hope, s Craving and the leading to becoming. 163. Covetousness, craving, desire, Greed, passion, and attachment; Longing, wish, desire, Craving, sensual desire, longing; Longing, liking, it is said, Excessive yearning in two (genders). 164. Enmity, opposition, hatred, Anger, and resentment, or; Anger, malice, wrath, rage, Ill-will, and displeasure. 165. Grudge, resentment it is, Sorrow, but grieving; Weeping, crying, wailing, Lamentation, wailing. 166. Fear, dread, terror, Dreadful, but great fear. 167. Envy, jealousy, stinginess, But avarice, stinginess; Delusion, ignorance, likewise ignorance, Conceit, pride, and arrogance. 169. Restlessness, agitation, and then, Torment, and remorse; Regret, remorse, and Remorse is declared. 170. Mental agitation, doubt, Uncertainty, and perplexity; Indecision, and skepticism, Doubt, suspicion, and uncertainty. 171. Pride, conceit, egoism, Thought, but meditation is called; Decision, ascertainment is said, Promise, but agreement. 172. Disrespect, scorn, Contempt, and disrespect; Contempt, and disdain then, Madness, mental derangement. 173. Love, affection, love then, Mental distress, distraction; Heedlessness, letting go of mindfulness, Curiosity, eagerness. 174. Charm, grace, playfulness, Amorous gesture, coquetry, and charm; And so on, these are Feminine actions arising from amorous sentiment. 175. Laughing, laughter, mirth, Gentle, that is a smile, a grin; Guffaw, great laughter, Goosebumps, hair-raising. 176. Jest, sport, play, Fun, game, and playing; Sleep, but dream, slumber, And drowsiness, nodding. 177. Deceit, and trickery, Hypocrisy, and cunning, fraud; Nature, but inherent quality, and Own form, nature (in feminine). 178. And character, characteristic. being, A festival, a celebration, a great occasion. 179. A being, holding with affection, a lamp of appellations, sees small and other kinds of things as it pleases. The Heaven Chapter is finished. 2. Earth Chapter 1. Earth Section 180. Sections of earth, city, mortals, four castes, forests, and so forth; with the underworld, are spoken of as main and sub-sections here in order. 181. Vasundharā, chamā, bhūmi, pathavī, medanī, mahī; ubbī, vasumatī, go, ku, vasudhā, dharaṇī, dharā; puthavī, jagatī, bhūrī, bhū, and bhūtadharā, avanī. 182. Saline earth is ūso, ūsavā, ūsaro in three genders; thalaṃ, thalī (feminine) for a land area, jaṅgalo for rough, dry land. 183. Pubbavideha, and Apara, Goyāna, Jambudīpa, and Uttarakuru—these are the four great continents. 184. In the masculine plural: Kurus, Kosalans, Magadhans, Sivis, Kalingans, Avantis, Pañcālas, Vajjis, Gandhāras, Cetis. 185. Vaṅgas, Videhas, Kambojas, Maddas, Bhaggas, Aṅgas, Sīhaḷas; Kasmīras, Kāsis, Paṇḍavas, and others— these are other countries. 186. Loka and bhuvana are said for world, desa for region or country; milakkhadesa for frontier country, majjhadesa for middle country. 187. Anūpa is water-abundant, kaccha is masculine and neuter; saddala is a green place, with fresh grass. 188. A country whose life is from river-lotus, whose harvest is produced by rain; that which is nourished by rivers, and that nourished by gods, in order. 189. In three genders for anūpa and so forth, and for moon, sun, etc., it is eternal; raṭṭha is a conquered territory, setu and āli are for a dam. 190. Upāntabhū is surrounding land, goṭṭha, gokula, vaja for cattle-pen; magga, pantha, patho, addhā, añjasa, vaṭuma likewise for path. 191. Pajja, yana, padavī, vattanī, paddhati, itthi for path; their divisions: jaṅgha, sakaṭa, maggā, and mahaddhani for great road. 192. Ekapadi, ekapadika for a single-foot path, kantāra for a difficult, inaccessible place. 193. Paṭimagga, paṭipatho for a return path, addhānaṃ for a long path, añjasaṃ; suppatho, supantho for a good path. A wrong path becomes a non-path. 194. Thirty-six ultimate atoms, one atom is thirty-six of those. A tajjāri is also thirty-six, a chariot dust particle is thirty-six of those. 195. A likkhā is seven ūkas, a dhaññamāsa is seven of those. Seven angulas is this, two vidatthi are two (units). 196. A ratana, those seven. A yaṭṭhi, those twenty together. A gāvuta, an usabha of eighty. A yojana, four gāvutas. 197. Five hundred bows are a kosa, a karīsa is four ambaṇas. The interval of cubits, is by measure twenty-eight. The Earth Section is finished. 2. Earth Chapter 2. City Section 198. Pura, nagara, or ṭhānīya, puṭabhedana (are cities). In feminine, rājadhānī, and also khandhāvāra it is. 199. A branch city is another city, that which is from the main city. Bārāṇasī and Sāvatthi, Vesālī, Mithilā, Alavī. 200. Kosambu, Ujjenī, Takka-silā, Campā, and Sāgala. Susumāragira, Rājagaha, and Kapilavatthu. 201. Sāketa, Indapattha, Ukkaṭṭhā, Pāṭaliputta. Jetuttara, and Saṅkassa, Kusinārā and other cities. 202. Racchā and visikhā are said, rathikā, vīthi, and also. A racchā is an unbroken byūha, but a pathaddhi is a pierced (one). 203. Catukka, caccara, magga, sandhi, siṅghāṭaka it is. Pākāra, varaṇa, and also, udāpa, upakārikā. 204. Kuṭṭa, bhitti, nārī, and, gopura, dvārakoṭṭhaka. Esikā, indakhīla, and, aṭṭa, aṭṭālaka it is. 205. Toraṇa is an outer gate, parikhā and dīghikā (are moats). Mandira, sadana, agāra, nikāya, nilaya, laya (are dwellings). 206. Āvāsa, bhavana, vesma, niketana, nivesana. Ghara, gaha, and vasatha, saraṇa, and patissaya. 207. Oka, sālā, khaya, vāsa, in feminine, kuṭi, and vasati. Geha, and nitthi saduma, cetiya, and āyatana, but. 208. Pāsāda, and yūpa, and, muṇḍacchada, and hammiya. But yūpa (is) gajak... in a pot, an elephant's trunk is established. 209. A Supaṇṇa-wing-like roof, or a carriage-yoke may be; A mansion with one peak, a four-sided palace. 210. A women's quarters is a harem, the inner palace and also the inner city; A place not for all to enter, the king's inner chamber is considered. 216. A staircase or an ascent, a ladder, a climbing-device; A window, a lattice, a net and a lion's cage. 217. A skylight is spoken of, a bolt is a crossbar; A capital, a door-post, a finial is at the edge of the roof. 218. A roof, a covering, a roof, a courtyard, a square, a ground; A porch, a portico, a veranda, a lintel, a door-frame. 219. A door-panel, a door-frame, a pinnacle is a corner-piece; A door and a gate, a threshold, a door-frame, in feminine. 220. A ram is a door-post, a pillar, a column, in masculine and feminine; A brick, a half-moon stone, a tile and a brick. 221. In a roof-timber, in a curved beam, a rafter, in feminine; In a pigeon-house, a projection, in neuter. 222. A keyhole, a key-slot, and also a key; A lock, a bolt, and also, a railing, a fence is called. 223. A beam, a side-beam, a house-part, a balance also; In feminine, a broom, and also a broom and a cleaner. 224. A rubbish-heap is a rubbish-place, a pile of rubbish; Then refuse, dirt. o, refuse and sweepings. 225. Woman, lady, woman, female, bride, woman, lady; Charming, beautiful, beloved, charming, dear, woman. 231. Woman, and lady, charming, timid, passionate; A maiden is a girl, a young woman, a youth. 232. Queen, consecrated, another, lady of rank, royal woman; She who desires her husband, goes to a rendezvous, an abhisārikā. 233. Courtesan, prostitute, beauty-slave, city's ornament; Living by beauty, prostitute, an unchaste woman, and harlot. 234. Beautiful-hipped, excellent, charming, of fine complexion; A devoted wife, also chaste, a good woman, family's guardian. 235. Widow, husband-empty, and choosing a husband, self-choosing; Having given birth, and delivered, having offspring, a mother. 236. Female messenger, messenger, female slave, and maid, pot-carrier; Vāruṇī, temporary attendant, similar, a warrior woman, and warrior woman. 237. Wife, wife, and spouse, housewife, wife, beloved; Mistress of the house, and companion, she, serving at the feet. 238. Female friend, companion, and adulteress, unchaste woman; In women, menstruation, flower, a menstruating woman, and menstruating. 239. Menstruating, heavy with child, having a living being within, and pregnant; Womb, water, embryo also, the embryo is neuter. 240. Husband, master, lord, beloved, husband, excellent, dear; Then, a bad husband, paramour, offspring, son, born from self, son.
