In the sense-sphere, javanas without activity, tadālambas with determining; and grasping, these are thirty-three cittas, from the subsequent investigating. 233. From the sense-sphere wholesome, pleasant investigating, and the dark determining, two; the great result is the last, and from the formless deaths. 234. These are thirty-seven, here, excluding the two faults; by these thirty-five, the second pair arises. 235. These seven, pleasant investigating and so on, are also possible from activity; the remaining four should be known, and are obtained by bhavanga. 236. Excluding the paths, with determining, pleasant investigating javanas. Summary; The passing away from nine states, the third pair is indicated. 237. By these faultless states, thirty-seven, and the other two; Form-results, without formless-results, with roots and rootless. 238. By those fifty-nine, they occur, without the formless, etc.; The smile-producing and the faultless, in the javana of the form realm, by those eight sixes. 239. By those same resultants, the second and so on, by themselves; With javanas lacking below and below, they arise, each one less. 240. The happy investigating consciousness and bhavanga, and itself, by thirty-seven; The ultimate faultless, by the formless bhavangas, and the other. 241. The method just described, now in many ways; Also the divisions by individuals, etc., its occurrence is stated. 242. For the ordinary person, they arise, indeed, associated with wrong view and doubt; For the trainee, seven pure ones, and for the other, infinite ones. 243. The ultimate pure, and the faultless functional, nineteen; The remaining wholesome and unwholesome, occur in trainees and ordinary people. 244. And the other two faultless, and results with taints; Thus for all three, in five ways, by seven divisions. 245. In the sense realm, sixteen, the three beginning with nose, and great results of demerit; In the form and formless realms, with results, twenty-five, born of one. 246. And sense-realm results, the remaining first path, the two initial functional; In the form realm, javanas, twenty-two, the remaining two-born, born of three realms. 247. And the expansion in the realms, should be known as wholesome and unwholesome of the sense realm; And the smile-producing, faultless, rootless, in the woeful planes, thirty-seven. 248. Excluding the exalted results, eighty, in the remaining sense realms; Eye, ear, mind-element, investigating consciousness, and determining consciousness. 249. Javanas devoid of demerit, each one, results in the form realm, for non-noble ones; Sixty-five, and sixty-six, in the three beginning with Parittābha. 250. The first five pure ones, without those associated with doubt and wrong view, there; Those same fifty-five, arise in the pure abodes. 251. The first path, two smile-producing, javanas devoid of form, its own; And its result, and determining consciousness, forty-three occur in the sky. 252. Below and below, mind-element, faultless, those, And the result, each one's own; In the second and so on, they arise, Two by two less from each. 253. In each of the formless realms, and in the first three of the form realms; And in the third triad, one, one, two occur in the second. ke. 254. The last resultant form-existence, In the six Brahma realms and so on; Only in the sense-sphere happy realms, Do the great resultants arise. 255. The three beginning with smelling, And the two of aversion, in the sense-sphere; The first of the seventeen, Pure, in humans and so on. 256. Excluding noble ones and woeful states, The four beginning with stream-entry fruit; Excluding woeful states and formless realms, Laughter, form-sphere, and beautiful functional. 257. Excluding woeful states and the three of restlessness, There is the functional of infinite space; Likewise, excluding woeful states and the two of restlessness, Consciousness, wholesome, and functional. 258. Excluding the highest existence and woeful states, The functional of nothingness; Associated with wrong view and doubt, Except in pure abodes, in all realms. 259. And the three pure ones at the end, And the beautiful functional in the highest existence; And the great functional, these arise, Thirteen, only in happy realms. 260. In the formless realms, mind-element, Seeing, and investigating; In the sense-sphere, in undesirable connection, The result of evil deeds for Brahmas. 261. Determining, and sense-sphere wholesome, Without wrong view, and pure; These fourteen consciousnesses, Arise in thirty realms. 262. Two faculties, in ahetuka, Excluding the two extremes; Three in doubt, other ahetuka, In evil, four, thirteen. 263. Six without knowledge, In those with defilements at the end, seven pure; Forty, thus, Should be known by the division of faculties. 264. Two powers, in ahetuka, In the two extremes, three in doubt; Four in other evil, six, Are in the remaining two-rooted. 265. In seventy-nine consciousnesses, Seven are associated with wisdom; The remaining are without power, Effort is the power. 266. Non-jhana factors, two and five, Reasoning, indeed, is its factor; In jhana, detached from joy, In its producers, two pure ones. 267. In the third, with purity, three, Four in the second, likewise; And in the sense-sphere, without joy, Five factors, indeed, in the remaining. 268. Two paths, in doubt, Without wrong view, in remaining unwholesome, three; In other two-rooted, and in pure jhanas, And in the second and so on. 269. Four, five, in first jhana, Sense-sphere, with three roots; Seven pure, in second and so on, Jhana, eight in the remaining. 270. Indeed, from the root-end, of the path, Non-path factor, rootless; There is no six-path-factor associated, And also with the five powers. 271. S That object, a lifted shore, in the desirable, with merit-equanimity; It is intermediate in the desirable, but in its opposite, in the sphere. 272. From the two kinds of aversion, that object, but not from the action of happiness; All, when good and bad are destroyed, from the word 'registering consciousness'. 273. Or from action, that object, with equanimity, not happy indeed; The other, and the other, this should be well observed. 274. By karma that gives rebirth-linking, in the occurrence of registering consciousness; The regulation of impulsion, it is said, from karma itself, and from other karma. 275. In which mind, mental factors, which are stated, those in brief; Now are said, two and five, the seven universals arise. 276. With initial and sustained application, and decision, those same ten arise; In the five sense-door mind-element pentads, in the happy investigating consciousness. 277. These, with joy added, in mirth, and with effort, two added; Even in determining consciousness, these same, eleven, excluding joy. 278. And those common to unwholesome states, three, five, with restlessness connected; Even in those connected with doubt, these same, with doubt, of inferior decision. 279. But these same, excluding doubt, with aversion, with desire, with decision; Seventeen are in aversion, but in the two ending with greed. 280. Those, excluding aversion, with greed, those in the third and subsequent pairs; With wrong view and joy, two added, two, nine, nineteen. 281. Excluding joy, sustained and initial application, from the beginning up to these thirty; Indeed arise in the fourth and subsequent form and formless minds. 282. In joy, sustained and initial application, transcending by one, by two, by three; Those same in the third and subsequent (jhānas), thirty, and one, two, three more. 283. These same in the first two sense-sphere (consciousnesses), indeed in the second and subsequent pairs; Abandoning wisdom, joy, wisdom and joy, they would be in order. 284. As stated in jhāna, in the jhāna root, with the abstinences added; There these fixed factors are, satisfaction, say, arising everywhere. 285. In each sense-sphere wholesome (consciousness), indeed in the victorious unfixed ones; Abstinences, compassion, appreciative joy, in sense-sphere, pleasant, wholesome action. 286. Some say even in neutral (consciousness), in wholesome action with roots; Even in happy jhāna, in each, indeed are compassion and appreciative joy. 287. Sloth and torpor, in prompted (consciousness), there in the two devoid of wrong view; Or by conceit, three, in the remaining devoid of wrong view, one by one. 88. Envy, stinginess, and remorse, are two separate faults; In the latter, sloth and torpor may be with all three. 289. All these mental factors that have been mentioned here; In these latter ones, this method is now stated. 290. In sixty-three, pleasure and pain, and equanimity are feelings; But in fifty-five minds, they are faculties. 291. In one and one, and in sixty-two, in two, and in five; In fifty, it should be understood, are the five faculties of pleasure, etc. 292. In one hundred and ten, is the determination of energy; In five less than that, the faculty of concentration is declared. 293. Aspiration is in one hundred and nineteen; faith and others, Except for wisdom, are in one hundred less nine; understanding is in that. 294. Application is in seventy-nine; absorption is in sixty-six; Joy is in fifty-five, it is in fifty-one. 295. Abstinences are in twenty-six; compassion and appreciative joy, Or in eight minds with equanimity, are in twenty-eight. 296. Shamelessness, fearlessness of wrongdoing, delusion, and restlessness are twelve; Greed is in eight minds; sloth and torpor are in five. 297. Conceit is in four; wrong view is likewise in two minds; Hatred, envy, and stinginess, and remorse are in the latter. 298. Doubt is in one; thus, according to what is stated, The method of non-occurrence can also be known by one who understands. 299. In this aggregate, this method of feelings and so on should be known; As one-fold and two-fold, due to their non-separation by reason of suitability.
