that Dispensation, making it shine, my venerable one, born of Sāri." It is said to be a bhikkhu. Even if one were to say, "Having become a long-lived earth-deva in between, he would then become a human," even so, a noble person who has been a disciple of one Buddha would not again become a disciple of another Buddha. ...and the teacher, being one who holds all the scriptures, a composer of many texts, and a teacher and grand-teacher to many elder text-composers, therefore these verses were not placed only here, but also at the end of the Vinaya commentary named Sāratthadīpanī. Therefore, there must be a reason for this, and it should be investigated. Or else, by this... having become a deva-son, first attaining the fruit as described, delighting in the qualities of virtue and conduct in Tāvatiṃsa, and the benefit of non-attachment to the five sense-pleasures, in the final existence... it would shine, is the interpretation. Or else, by this... being unattached to the five sense-pleasures, in the final existence... having heard the teaching of the True Dhamma, attaining the first fruit, the fruit of stream-entry, and thereafter attaining the highest fruit, the fruit of arahantship, he would adorn the Dispensation of the Conqueror, is the interpretation. Just as the Elder Aññāta Koṇḍañña, having heard the Dhamma teaching of our Blessed One's Discourse on the Turning of the Wheel of Dhamma, attained the fruit of stream-entry and later attained the fruit of arahantship, thereby adorning the Dispensation of the Conqueror, such is the meaning. Other interpretations, in accordance with the Elder's words, should be considered by the wise. The commentary on the concluding verses is finished. Concluding Verses 1.
