The form, sound, smell, taste, tangible-base, are related to the mind-element, and to the phenomena associated with it, by way of the prenascent condition. That form, relying on which, the mind-element and the mind-consciousness element exist, that form is related to the mind-element, and to the phenomena associated with it, by way of the prenascent condition. To the mind-consciousness element, and to the phenomena associated with it, at some times it is related by way of the prenascent condition, at some times it is not related by way of the prenascent condition. A non-material phenomenon that is helpful, by way of supporting prenascent material phenomena, is the postnascent condition, like the food and awareness of the bodies of vulture chicks. Therefore, it was said: "Postnascent mental phenomena are related to this prenascent body by way of the postnascent condition." A phenomenon that is helpful, by way of strengthening the immediately preceding, due to the function of repetition, is the habituation condition, like the earlier and earlier application in texts, etc. It is threefold, by way of wholesome, unwholesome, and functional impulsions. As it was said: Earlier and earlier wholesome phenomena are related to later and later wholesome are conditions due to the practice. Earlier unwholesome states…pe… functional and indeterminate states are conditions due to the practice for later functional and indeterminate states. The state that is helpful through the act of mental effort is the condition of action. It is twofold, based on wholesome and unwholesome volition occurring at different moments, and all co-nascent volition. As it is said: Wholesome and unwholesome action is a condition by way of action for the aggregates of result and for materiality produced by action. Volition is a condition by way of action for associated states and for materiality produced by it. The resultant state that is helpful through the state of lacking effort for the state of lacking effort is the condition of result. It is a condition of result for mind-produced materiality in the course of existence, for materiality produced by action at rebirth, and for associated states everywhere. As it is said: A resultant indeterminate aggregate is a condition by way of result for three aggregates and for mind-produced materiality…pe… at the moment of rebirth, a resultant indeterminate aggregate…pe… two aggregates are conditions by way of result for two aggregates and for materiality produced by action. Aggregates are conditions by way of result for the base. The four kinds of nutriment that are helpful through the function of supporting form and formless states are the condition of nutriment. As it is said: Material food is a condition by way of nutriment for this body. Immaterial nutriment is a condition by way of nutriment for associated states and for materiality produced by them. However, in the question section, it is also said that "at the moment of rebirth, resultant indeterminate nutriment is a condition by way of nutriment for associated aggregates and for materiality produced by action." The twenty faculties, excluding the female faculty and the male faculty, that are helpful through the function of dominance are the condition of faculty. Among them, the five faculties beginning with the eye faculty are conditions only for formless states, while the rest are conditions for form and formless states. As it is said: The eye faculty is a condition for the eye-consciousness element, the ear… nose… tongue… body The sense faculty is related to the body consciousness element, and to mental states associated with it, by way of the sense faculty condition. The life faculty of material phenomena is related to co-nascent material phenomena by way of the sense faculty condition. Immaterial sense faculties are related to associated mental states, and to material phenomena arising from them, by way of the sense faculty condition. But in the Inquiry Section it is said: "At the moment of rebirth, sense faculties that are resultant and indeterminate are related to associated aggregates, and to co-nascent material phenomena, by way of the sense faculty condition." Being helpful by way of directing the mind, excluding the two kinds of physical pleasure and pain in the two sets of five sense consciousnesses, all seven factors of absorption, divided into skillful and so on, are the absorption condition. As it is said: "The factors of absorption are related to mental states associated with absorption, and to material phenomena arising from them, by way of the absorption condition." But in the Inquiry Section it is said: "At the moment of rebirth, factors of absorption that are resultant and indeterminate are related to associated aggregates, and to co-nascent material phenomena, by way of the absorption condition." Being helpful by way of leading out from here and there, the twelve factors of the path, divided into skillful and so on, are the path condition. As it is said: "The factors of the path are related to mental states associated with the path, and to material phenomena arising from them, by way of the path condition." But in the Inquiry Section it is said: "At the moment of rebirth, factors of the path that are resultant and indeterminate are related to associated aggregates, and to co-nascent material phenomena, by way of the path condition." But it should be understood that these two, the absorption and path conditions, are not found in the two sets of five sense consciousnesses and in causeless consciousnesses, in their respective order. Being helpful by way of association, characterized by a single base, a single object, a single arising, and a single ceasing, immaterial phenomena are the association condition. As it is said: "The four immaterial aggregates are related to one another by way of the association condition." Being helpful without sharing a single base and so on, material phenomena are related to immaterial phenomena, immaterial phenomena are related to material phenomena, by way of the dissociation condition. This is threefold: co-nascent, subsequent, and prenascent. This was said: "Co-nascent skillful... The aggregates are a condition for the materiality born of mind by way of dissociation. The later-born wholesome aggregates are a condition for this prior-born body by way of dissociation. However, in the analysis of the indeterminate, in the section on co-nascence, it is said: "At the moment of rebirth, the resultant-indeterminate aggregates are a condition for the materiality produced by karma by way of dissociation. The aggregates are a condition for the base, the base is a condition for the aggregates by way of dissociation." However, the prior-born should be understood only in terms of the base, such as the eye-faculty, etc. As it is said: the prior-born eye-sphere is a condition for eye-consciousness... ...the body-sphere is a condition for body-consciousness by way of dissociation. The base is a condition for the resultant-indeterminate aggregates, the base is a condition for the action-indeterminate aggregates, the base is a condition for the wholesome aggregates, the base is a condition for the unwholesome aggregates by way of dissociation. A state that is helpful by way of supporting the existence of such a state itself by way of the characteristic of presence is the presence condition. In its matrix, seven categories are laid down in terms of immaterial aggregates, great elements, name-and-form, mind, mental factors, great elements, sense-fields, and base. As it is said: the four immaterial aggregates are a condition for each other by way of presence; the four great elements are a condition for each other, at the moment of descent, name-and-form is a condition for each other, mental states and concomitants are a condition for materiality born of mind, the great elements are a condition for derived materiality, the eye-sphere is a condition for the eye-consciousness element... ...the body-sphere... ...the form-sphere... ...the tangible-sphere is a condition for the body-consciousness element and for states associated therewith by way of presence. The form-sphere... ...the tangible-sphere is a condition for the mind-element and for states associated therewith by way of presence. That materiality on which the mind-element and the mind-consciousness element depend, that materiality is a condition for the mind-element and for the mind-consciousness element and for states associated therewith by way of presence. However, in the question section, having laid down co-nascence, prior-nascence, posterior-nascence, nutriment, and faculty, in co-nascence... Thus, "one aggregate is related to the other three aggregates and the mind-originated material phenomena by way of presence" and so on, the explanation was made in this manner. In the case of prenascence, the explanation was made in terms of the prenascent eye and other sense bases. In the case of post-nascent, the explanation was made in terms of the post-nascent mental states and mental factors being related to this prenascent body by way of condition. But in the case of nutriment and faculty conditions, the explanation was made thus: "Edible food is related to this body by way of presence. The life faculty of material phenomena is related to the co-nascent material phenomena by way of presence." The immediately ceased immaterial phenomena, being helpful by giving space for the arising of immaterial phenomena that arise immediately after themselves, are absence condition. As it was said: "Immediately ceased mental states and mental factors are related to the arisen mental states and mental factors by way of absence condition." Those same phenomena, being helpful by way of absence, are disapperance condition.
