The Teacher's seven treatises. O, he taught the Abhidhamma; The God beyond gods, to the gods, in the heavenly realm of old. This commentary of it, is now entirely completed; For the long standing of the Dhamma, by me who have completed it. Whatever merit I have gained from it, by its power may all beings; Knowing the Dhamma, the bringer of happiness, of the true Dhamma King. May they attain to the pure, to happiness, by the right practice; To the sorrowless, painless, supreme bliss of Nibbana. Long may the true Dhamma endure, may there be respect for the Dhamma; May all beings in due time, may the rain fall rightly. As the ancient, good kings protected, so may this king; Protect with Dhamma, his own people, cherishing them. The commentary on the Book of Relations is completed. Thus is completed the commentary on the five books. Concluding Remarks By the Elder Buddhaghosa, adorned with supremely pure faith, wisdom, and energy, endowed with the accumulation of virtues such as morality, conduct, uprightness, and gentleness, capable of deeply penetrating his own and others' doctrines, possessed of skill in wisdom, with unimpeded knowledge in the Teacher's Dispensation, which is divided into the three baskets of the Tipitaka together with their commentaries, a great grammarian, with sweet and noble words born of the bliss produced by the accomplishment of the means, a speaker of truthful words, foremost of debaters, a great poet, surrounded by the different kinds of analytical knowledge, adorned with qualities such as the six superknowledges, well-established in the higher human states, a lamp of the lineage of Elders, an ornament of the lineage of the Elders residing at the Great Monastery, with vast and pure wisdom, whose name Buddhaghosa was taken by the teachers, was made this commentary on the entire Abhidhamma Pitaka - So long may it stand in the world, for those seeking to cross over the world; Showing to sons of good family, the way to purity of wisdom. As long as the name "Buddha" exists, of the pure-minded such one; In the world, of the world's chief, the great sage, so long may it prevail. The commentary on the Abhidhamma Pitaka is completed.
