Is the latent tendency of sensual lust unwholesome? It should not be said so... (and so on). Is the latent tendency of aversion indeterminate? Yes. When a worldling's mind is wholesome or indeterminate, should it be said that they are "with latent tendencies"? Yes. Do wholesome and unwholesome phenomena come into direct manifestation? It should not be said thus... Then the latent tendencies are indeterminate. When a worldling's mind is wholesome or indeterminate, should it be said that they are "with lust"? Yes. Do wholesome and unwholesome phenomena come into direct manifestation? It should not be said thus... Then lust is indeterminate. 607. Are latent tendencies rootless? Yes. Is form, Nibbana, the eye-base... the tangible-base? It should not be said thus... Is the latent tendency of sensual lust rootless? Yes. Is sensual lust, the obsession with sensual lust, the fetter of sensual lust, the hindrance of sensual desire rootless? It should not be said thus... Should it not be said: "Latent tendencies are rootless"? Yes. A worldling When a wholesome or indeterminate mind is occurring, is it said to be "with latent tendencies"? Yes. Are the latent tendencies, for that reason, with a cause? It should not be said so... (etc.) ... Therefore, the latent tendencies are without a cause. When a wholesome or indeterminate mind is occurring in an ordinary person, is it said to be "with passion"? Yes. Is passion, for that reason, with a cause? It should not be said so... (etc.) ...
