By the name Pilindavaccha, he will be a disciple of the Teacher; Honored by devas, asuras, and gandhabbas. 85. And likewise by monks, nuns, and lay followers; Having become dear to all, he will dwell without defilements. 86. A deed done in a hundred thousand, the fruit given burned for me here; Like a well-released arrow, it burned up my defilements. 87. Oh, my good deed, in the unsurpassed field of merit; Where having done the deed, I have attained the unmoving state. 88. The perfect, excellent gift, which that young man gave; Was the foremost beginning; this is the fruit of that gift. (1. The Benefit of the Umbrella) 89. Having given umbrellas to the Sugata, and to the Sangha, the supreme assembly; I experience eight benefits, befitting my deed. 90. I know neither cold nor heat, dust and dirt do not cling; Undisturbed and free from calamity, I am always honored. 91. I have a delicate skin, my mind is clear; Hundreds of thousands of umbrellas, as I wander through existences. 92. Adorned with all ornaments, by the power of that deed; Except for this present birth, they hold them over my head. 93. Why in this present birth, do I not have an umbrella held? All my deeds were done, for the attainment of the umbrella of liberation. (2. The Benefit of Cloth) 94. Having given cloths to the Sugata, and to the Sangha, the supreme assembly; I experience eight benefits, befitting my deed. 95. Golden-colored, spotless, radiant and glorious; My body is smooth, as I wander through existences. 96. Hundreds of thousands of cloths, white, yellow, and red; Are held over my head, this is the fruit of the gift of cloth. 97. Silken and woolen garments, linen and cotton too; I obtain everywhere, as a result of those. (3. The Benefit of Bowls) 98. Having given bowls to the Sugata, and to the Sangha, the supreme assembly; I experience ten benefits, befitting my deed. 99. In golden plates, in jeweled plates, and in silver plates; In plates made of coral, I partake always. 100. Undisturbed and free from calamity, I am always honored; Recipient of food and drink, of clothing and lodging. My possessions do not perish, I become one with a steadfast mind; I am always desirous of Dhamma, With few defilements, without taints. In the world of devas or humans, These qualities follow me; Like the shadow of a tree, They do not leave me anywhere. Many well-made axes, Bound with mind-binding straps; Having given them to the foremost Buddha, And likewise to the Saṅgha. I experience eight benefits, Befitting my actions; I become brave and skilled, Perfect in confidence. I become endowed with fortitude and energy, My mind always uplifted; The knowledge that cuts off defilements, Subtle, incomparable, pure; I obtain it everywhere, From the outflow of that (deed). Many knives, Not rough, not harsh, well-cleaned; Having given them with a clear mind, To the Buddha and likewise to the Saṅgha. I experience five benefits, Befitting my actions; Good friends, energy, Patience, and the knife of loving-kindness. Because the dart of craving is cut, The unsurpassed knife of wisdom; Knowledge like a diamond, I obtain from the outflow of those (deeds). Having given needles to the Fortunate One, To the Saṅgha, the supreme assembly; I experience five benefits, Befitting my actions. No doubt, cutting off uncertainty, Handsome and wealthy; I am always sharp-witted, As I wander through existences. A deep, subtle state, I see the meaning with knowledge; Knowledge like a diamond's point, Becomes mine, destroying darkness. Having given nail-clippers to the Fortunate One, To the Saṅgha, the supreme assembly; I experience five benefits, Befitting my actions. Many male and female slaves, Cattle and horses, servants, actors; Barbers, attendants, cooks, I obtain them everywhere. Having given a fan to the Fortunate One, A palmyra-leaf and beautiful; I experience eight benefits, suitable to my deeds. 115. Cold and heat I do not know, burning anguish does not exist; Distress I do not experience, that which torments my mind. 116. The fire of lust, the fire of hatred and delusion, the fire of conceit, and the fire of wrong views; All fires are extinguished for me, as a result of that. (9. Peacock-feather whisk) 117. Having given peacock-feather whisks, to the excellent community of the Sangha; I, with defilements calmed, dwell without stain. (10. Water-strainer and Dharma-implement) 118. Having given water-strainers to the Fortunate One, and excellent Dharma-implements; I experience five benefits, suitable to my deeds. 119. Surpassing all, I obtain a divine lifespan; I am always invincible, by thieves or enemies. 120. By weapon or by poison, no harm is done; There is no untimely death, as a result of those. (11. Benefit of Oil-offering) 121. Having given oil-offerings to the Fortunate One, to the excellent community of the Sangha; I experience five benefits, suitable to my deeds. 122. Of beautiful form, well-behaved, with a well-arisen mind; I am of an undisturbed mind, protected by all protectors. (12. Benefit of Needle-case) 123. Having given needle-cases to the Fortunate One, to the excellent community of the Sangha; I experience three benefits, suitable to my deeds. 124. Mental happiness, bodily happiness, happiness born of postures; These qualities I obtain, as a result of that. (13. Benefit of Shoulder-strap) 125. Having given shoulder-straps to the Victorious One, to the excellent community of the Sangha; I experience three benefits, suitable to my deeds. 126. I find firm footing in the True Dhamma, I remember my second existence; I am of pure complexion everywhere, as a result of that. (14. Benefit of Waist-band) 127. Having given waist-bands to the Victorious One, to the excellent community of the Sangha; I experience six benefits, suitable to my deeds. 128. In concentrations I do not waver, I am master in concentrations; I am an unbreakable assembly, Always of trustworthy speech. I am one with mindfulness established, Fear does not exist for me; In the world of gods or humans, These qualities follow. Having given stands to the Conquerors, To the Sangha, the foremost assembly; An heir of five colors, I am unshakeable by anyone. Whatever teachings I have heard, Awakening mindfulness and wisdom; They are held by me, they do not perish, They become well-determined. Having given bowls and utensils, To the Buddhas, the supreme assembly; I experience three benefits, Befitting my actions. Made of gold, made of jewels, Or even made of crystal; And made of red coral, I obtain such bowls. Wives, male and female servants, Elephants, horses, chariots, infantry; And devoted women, Are always my possessions. Knowledge, mantra verses, Many various traditions; I master all crafts, Always my possessions. Having given plates to the Well-gone ones, To the Sangha, the foremost assembly; I experience three benefits, Befitting my actions. Made of gold, made of jewels, Or even made of crystal; And made of red coral, I obtain such plates. Without a handle, made of fruit, Or even of lotus leaves; And conch shells for honey drinks, I obtain such plates. In duties, virtues, conduct, And in customary actions; These qualities I obtain, As a result of that. Having given medicine to the Well-gone ones, To the Sangha, the foremost assembly; I experience ten benefits, Befitting my actions. Long-lived, strong, wise, Beautiful, famous, happy; Undisturbed, free from calamity, I am always honored; There is no separation from loved ones for me, As a result of that. Having given sandals to the Conqueror, to the Sangha, the excellent assembly; I experience three benefits, fitting for my deed. Elephant-vehicles, horse-vehicles, palanquins, and carriages; Sixty hundred thousand always surround me. Made of gems, made of copper, golden and silver sandals; Arise at every step as I wander through existences. They run according to rule, purifying faults and conduct; These qualities I obtain, as a result of that. (Benefit of Sandals) Having given sandals to the Sugata, to the Sangha, the excellent assembly; Mounting the sandals of psychic power, I dwell as I wish. (Benefit of Water-Wiping Cloth) Water-wiping cloths, having given to the Buddha, the supreme assembly; I experience five benefits, fitting for my deed. Golden-colored, dustless, radiant, glorious; My body is smooth, dust and dirt do not cling; These qualities I obtain, as a result of that. (Benefit of a Staff) A staff to the Sugata, having given to the Sangha, the supreme assembly; I experience six benefits, fitting for my deed. Many sons are mine, fear is not mine; I am always invincible, protected by all protectors; I know no stumbling, my mind is unwavering. (Benefit of Medicine and Eye-Salve) Having given medicine and eye-salve, to the Buddha, the Sangha, the supreme assembly; I experience eight benefits, fitting for my deed. I have wide eyes, white, yellow, and red; With clear and serene eyes, free from all diseases. I gain the divine eye, the unsurpassed eye of wisdom; These qualities I obtain, as a result of that. (Benefit of a Key) Having given a key to the Sugata, to the Sangha, the excellent assembly; The opening of the door of Dhamma, l I spoke of the key of knowledge. (25. The Benefit of a Key-House) 155. Having given a house for keys, to the Buddha, to the Sangha, the supreme assembly; I experience two benefits, befitting my deeds; Little anger, no trouble, as I wander through existences. (26. The Benefit of a Strap) 156. Having given straps to the Fortunate One, to the Sangha, the supreme excellent assembly; I experience five benefits, befitting my deeds. 157. I do not waver in concentrations, I am master of concentrations; I become one whose assembly cannot be broken, my word is always acceptable; Wealth and prosperity arise, as I wander through existences.
