for one hundred and eight times. 78. Five hundred times he will be a Wheel-turning Monarch. He will rule countless regions on the earth. 79. A reciter, a holder of mantras, one who has mastered the three Vedas, in the Dispensation of Gotama, the Blessed One, he will go forth. 80. He will discern the deep, subtle meaning with wisdom. By the name Mogharāja, he will be a disciple of the Teacher. 81. Endowed with the three knowledges, his task done, without defilements, Gotama, the foremost leader, will place him at the forefront.' 82. Having abandoned human attachments, having cut the bonds of existence, having fully understood all defilements, I dwell without defilements. 83. The four analytical knowledges... ...the Buddha's teaching has been done." Thus indeed, the Elder Mogharāja Thera spoke these verses. The fifth Apadāna is of the Elder Mogharāja. 6. The Apadāna of Adhimutta Thera 84. When the World's Protector, the best among men, the Seer of the Goal, had passed away, I attended the Sangha of monks with a mind full of clarity. 85. Having invited the Sangha of monks, straightforward and composed, having made a pavilion of sugarcane, I fed the excellent Sangha. 86. Whatever birth I take, whether divine or human, I surpass all beings by merit. This is the fruit of a good deed. 87. Eighteen hundred aeons ago, the gift I gave then; I have not known a bad destination, this is the fruit of the sugarcane gift. 88. The four analytical knowledges... the Buddha's teaching has been accomplished. Thus indeed, the Venerable Elder Adhimutta spoke these verses. The Sixth Apadāna of Elder Adhimutta. 7. The Apadāna of Elder Lasuṇadāyaka 89. Not far from the Himalayas, I was an ascetic then; I lived on garlic, garlic was my food. 90. Having filled baskets, I went to the monastery of the Sangha; Delighted, with a delighted mind, I gave garlic to the Sangha. 91. To Vipassī, the best of men, I was devoted to his teaching; Having given garlic to the Sangha, for an aeon I rejoiced in heaven. 92. Ninety-one aeons ago, the garlic I gave then; I have not known a bad destination, this is the fruit of the garlic. 93. The four analytical knowledges... the Buddha's teaching has been accomplished. Thus indeed, the Venerable Elder Lasuṇadāyaka spoke these verses. The Seventh Apadāna of Elder Lasuṇadāyaka. 8. The Apadāna of Elder Āyāgadāyaka 94. When the Lord of the world had attained Nibbāna, Sikhi, the best of speakers; Delighted, with a delighted mind, I worshipped the supreme stupa. 95. Having had it built by carpenters, having given the cost then; Delighted, with a delighted mind, I had a shrine built. 96. For eight aeons among the devas, I lived continuously; In the remaining aeons, I wandered intermittently. 97. Poison does not enter my body, weapons do not harm me; I do not die in water, this is the fruit of the shrine. 98. If I wish for rain, a great cloud rains; Even devas come under my sway, this is the fruit of a meritorious deed. 99. Endowed with seven jewels, three times I was (a universal monarch); No one despises me, this is the fruit of a meritorious deed. 100. Thirty-one aeons ago from now, the shrine I had built; I have not known a bad destination, of the shrine... This is the fruit. 101. The four analytical knowledges... ...the Buddha's teaching has been done. Thus indeed, the Venerable Elder Ayagadāyaka spoke these verses. The eighth Apadāna of the Elder Ayagadāyaka. 9. The Apadāna of the Elder Dhammacakkika 102. Before the Blessed One Siddhattha, before his lion-throne; A Wheel of Dhamma was placed by me, well-made, praised by the wise. 103. I shine with a beautiful complexion, with my retinue, strength, and vehicles; Many people, my followers, always surround me. 104. With sixty thousand musical instruments, I am always attended; I shine with my retinue, this is the fruit of meritorious deeds. 105. Ninety-four aeons ago, the wheel I placed; I know no bad destination, this is the fruit of the Wheel of Dhamma. 106. From here, in the eleventh aeon, there were rulers of men; Named Sahassarāja, powerful Wheel-turning monarchs. 107. The four analytical knowledges... ...the Buddha's teaching has been done. Thus indeed, the Venerable Elder Dhammacakkika spoke these verses. The ninth Apadāna of the Elder Dhammacakkika. 10. The Apadāna of the Elder Kapparukkhiya 108. Before the Blessed One Siddhattha, before the supreme stupa; Having hung varied cloths, I placed a wish-fulfilling tree. 109. Whatever realm I am reborn in, whether divine or human; Adorning my doorway, a wish-fulfilling tree stands. 110. I and my retinue, and all who depend on me; Taking cloth from it, we always clothe ourselves. 111. Ninety-four aeons ago, the tree I placed; I know no bad destination, this is the fruit of the wish-fulfilling tree. 112. And from here, in the seventh aeon, there were eight Khattiyas named Sucela; Endowed with seven jewels, powerful Wheel-turning monarchs. 113. The four analytical knowledges... ...the Buddha's teaching has been done. Thus indeed, the Venerable Elder Kapparukkhiya spoke these verses. The tenth Apadāna of Thera Kapparukkhiya. The fourth is the Kuṇḍadhāna Chapter. Its summary – Kuṇḍa, Sāgata, Kaccāna, Udāyī, Mogharājaka; Adhimutta, Lasuṇado, Āyāgī, Dhammacakkika; And Kapparukkhi is the tenth, Twelve hundred verses.
