I see him with my mind as if with my eye, day and night, brahmin, heedful; Saluting, I spend the night, by that I deem it no separation. 1149. Faith and joy and mind and mindfulness, do not depart from me from Gotama's teaching; Whichever direction the greatly wise one goes, I am bowed down to him in that very direction. 1150. For me, old and with weakened strength, therefore my body does not go there; By intending, I always go, for my mind, brahmin, is yoked to him. 1151. Lying in the mud, struggling, from island to island I floated; Then I saw the Fully Awakened One, one who has crossed the flood, without defilements. 1152. Just as Vakkali was released by faith, and Bhadrāvudha, and Āḷavi, and Gotama; Even so, you too, release your faith, you, Piṅgiya, will go to the far shore of death's domain. 1153. I am even more pleased, having heard the sage's words; The Fully Awakened One, with the covering removed, is unblemished, with ready wit. 1154. Having known the highest devas, he knows all, the excellent and the inferior; The Teacher puts an end to questions, for those who acknowledge their doubts. 1155. Safe, auspicious, blissful, cool, tranquil, the supreme goal, refuge from death, the ultimate truth; For the sake of seeing that perfect Nibbana, the Foremost of bipeds taught the excellent discourse.
