Thereafter, thinking that it was now necessary to subdue those female demons, he went to the southern Glorious Mountain. He requested Yamāntaka from the master Nāgabodhi and meditated, and at some point, he directly saw the face of the deity. It is said that he later meditated for a long time and became inseparable from the Glorious Great Wrathful One. Then, when he went to Devīkoṭa again, the former non-Buddhist ḍākinīs said, "The karma planted in the past has ripened." At night, when he was about to be devoured by a terrifying form, he erected the maṇḍala of Yamāntaka. Those ḍākinīs fainted and were on the verge of death. After placing them under oath, he came to Nālandā. After that, he went to practice. The remaining history can be learned elsewhere. Śāntideva was born as the son of the king of Saurāṣṭra. Due to the power of past karma, he saw Mañjuśrī in a dream from a young age. When he grew up, he was about to be appointed as the heir to the throne. In the dream, Mañjuśrī sat on the throne on which he was to be appointed as the heir to the throne and said: "Only son, this is my seat. I am your virtuous spiritual friend. You and I sitting on the same seat. This is not appropriate in any way." The noble Tārā appeared as his mother and poured hot water from the crown of his head. When he asked what it was, she said, "The kingdom is the unbearable hot water of hell, and it is anointing you." Knowing that the kingdom was unacceptable, he fled the night before he was to be appointed king the next day. After traveling there for twenty-one days, when he began to drink from a spring at the foot of a forest, a woman stopped him and fed him other delicious water. She led him to a yogi in the depths of the forest. Having received the correct instructions from him and meditated, he attained inconceivable samādhi and wisdom. That yogi was Mañjuśrī, and that woman was Tārā. From then on, he always saw the face of Mañjuśrī. After that, he went to the east and stayed in the court of King Five Lions. He seemed to be very skilled in all fields of art and very intelligent, so he temporarily accepted the offer to serve as a minister. He always carried a wooden sword, the symbol of his yidam. There, he promoted all unprecedented crafts.

Because he was allowed to rule the kingdom according to Dharma, the other ministers became jealous and said to the king, "This man is a deceiver, and his sword is also made of wood." Therefore, the king had to show the swords of all the ministers. The teacher said, "If this is done, it will be harmful to the gods themselves." The king became even more suspicious and said, "Even if it is harmful, it is easy, you must show it." (The teacher) said, "Then please cover your right eye and look with your left eye." After doing so, the light of the sword blinded the king's left eye. After that, it was known that he had attained accomplishment, and he was given many possessions and respect, and he was invited to stay. He was instructed, "Rule the kingdom according to Dharma, and establish twenty Buddhist sites." After that, he went to the U-Tsang region. Khenpo Gyalwai Lha was ordained and named Shantideva. There he lived with the Panditas, and the food he enjoyed was five large bre of rice. Inwardly, he practiced Samadhi and listened to the Dharma from the Holy Manjushri, and carefully composed the Compendium of Trainings and the Compendium of Sutras. Although he knew all the Dharma, he slept day and night, and to outsiders, he did not seem to do any of the three: hearing, thinking, and meditating. The Sangha discussed, "This person who wastes the wealth of faith should be driven away. If we take turns reciting the scriptures, he will only eat for free here." So they did, and eventually Shantideva was also asked to recite the scriptures. At first, Shantideva did not agree, but under strong request, he said, "Then let's build a high throne to recite." Some people were suspicious, and most people gathered to demean him. After that, the teacher sat on the lion throne and said, "Shall I recite something that has been recited before, or something that has not been recited?" To test him, everyone said, "Recite something that has not been recited." Then he began to teach the Bodhisattvacharyavatara, and when he reached the line, "When neither object nor non-object, remains before the mind," he flew into the sky and disappeared, but the sound did not stop, and he completely taught the Bodhisattvacharyavatara. At that time, the Panditas who had obtained Dharani remembered it by heart, among them the Kashmiris recorded more than a thousand verses, and the praise was composed by themselves. The Easterners only recorded seven hundred verses, and the praise was the praise of the Fundamental Wisdom of the Middle Way.

Moreover, there were issues of breakage and reduction. The people of the central regions did not have vows of offering praise and writing, and a work of a thousand verses considered as subsequent praise appeared. Doubts arose about this. According to the previous history of Tibet, it is said that he resided in a prosperous city, but he went to the city of Kalinga, which belongs to Trilinga. Hearing that he resided there, three panditas went there and requested him to go to Nalanda, but he did not agree. Then, what about the saying to look at the 'Compendium of Trainings' and the 'Compendium of Sutras'? They also asked what these three books were. He replied, 'The 'Training Sutra' is in the window of the house, there is a scroll written on bark with the small letters of a pandita, go and get that. Hold the 'Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra' as the people of the central regions hold it.' There was also a forest monastery there, where he resided with about five hundred monks, and there were many deer in that forest. Those deer that came to the monastery ate meat through the magical power of illusion. The monks saw the deer entering the teacher's monastery and did not see them coming out, and they also knew that the herd of deer was decreasing. Some people saw the eating of meat from the window. There, when the Sangha started to oppose, the deer recovered again, and were even stronger than before, and came out and left. Those people invited him to reside with offerings and respect, but he did not reside, and abandoned the signs of ordination. He passed away with the conduct of Uccuṣma, and in a certain place in the south, the inner and outer parties had a dispute. When they competed in power, the Buddhists were unable to. When the teacher came to that place, the unwashed matter hit his body, and seeing it boil, he knew that he had gained power. Then he requested to compete in power with the heretics, and he agreed. There, the heretics drew a large mandala of powder colors in the sky, and at that very moment, a strong wind blew, carrying away the mandala and the heretics, and throwing them to the other side of a river. All those who liked the heretics were also carried away. The king and others who believed in Buddhism were not harmed by the wind in any way, and the heretics were destroyed.

Thus, he caused the Dharma to flourish. That place was also known as the place where the heretics were defeated. This comes from all reliable historical accounts, so it must be believed. But perhaps it is because of the power of time that the name of the place has changed. Now, it is not known which place it is. Furthermore, according to the Tibetan histories, for five hundred people who held strange views and were living in poverty, he miraculously produced food and gave it to them, causing them to embrace the Dharma. He did the same for about a thousand heretics. It is said that he also participated in a battle of a great war and pacified the war with his miraculous powers. He attained the supreme deity of Nalanda, whose arrangement is perfect and complete, who averts disputes, and who subdued the strange ones, beggars, kings, and heretics. It is believed that these are seven wonderful stories. The Omniscient Spiritual Friend was a prince of a king of Kashmir. When he was a small child, he was placed on the roof of a house, and when his mother went to pick flowers, the young boy was carried away by an eagle and placed on the top of a Gandhola in the central region of glorious Nalanda. The Panditas took him down and raised him, and when he grew up, he became very intelligent and became a Bhikshu who held the Tripitaka. He practiced the noble Tara and actually saw her face, and inexhaustible wealth arose. When he gave everything away in charity, there came a time when he had nothing left to give. He thought, "If I stay here, many beggars will return empty-handed," so he traveled far to the south. There, on the road, he met an old blind Brahmin being led by his son. When he asked where they were going, they replied, "There is an Omniscient Spiritual Friend in Nalanda who is said to satisfy all beggars, so we are going to beg from him." He said, "If I am that person, I have exhausted all my possessions and have come here." The man looked very distressed, and he felt immeasurable compassion. There was a king named Sarana who was very attached to wrong views and followed a malicious teacher. He bought one hundred and eight people, thinking that if he offered them as a fire sacrifice, he would gain all their lifespan and power, and that it would also be a cause for liberation. So he bought a hundred
