At all times, one should eat food in moderation. The heaviness or lightness of foods should be judged by their quantity. For light foods, eat until full, and for heavy foods, eat only until half-full. This is said to be easily digestible and easily absorbed, which is called moderation. This nourishes the body and generates warmth. If food is not eaten in moderation and is too little, strength and radiance will not increase, and all kinds of wind disorders will arise. If it exceeds the limit, it will cause indigestion and produce phlegm. This will block the channels through which fire and wind travel, weaken the stomach's heat, and generate all kinds of ailments. Therefore, food should be combined with the stomach's fire. Two parts of the stomach should be filled with food, one part with liquid, and one-fourth should be left as a space for air. Drinking after eating makes one feel satisfied and comfortable. Food rots and digests, the body becomes strong, and strength increases. Hoarseness, lung disease, phlegm, colds, and so on, even seasonal diseases, are harmful. When the digestive fire is weak, one can eat meat and drink alcohol. If there is indigestion and bloating, drink boiled water after eating. If you want to make a thin person gain weight, drink alcohol. If you want to reduce a fat person, drink honey water. After eating yogurt, alcohol, poisonous substances, or honey, it is beneficial to drink cold water. Drinking water in the middle, at the end, or at the beginning of a meal balances nutrition and causes one to become fat or thin. Various diseases do not go the wrong way, the digestive fire blazes, the body is light, comfortable, the senses are clear, strength increases, and the passage of urine, feces, and air runs smoothly. These arise from eating in moderation.\"" }, { "original_tibetan": "བདུད་རྩི་སྙིང་པོ་ཡན་ལག་བརྒྱད་པ་གསང་བ་མན་ངག་གི་རྒྱུད་ལས་ཁ་ཟས་བསྲུང་བ་དང་ཟས་ཚོད་རན་པར་བཟའ་བའི་ལེའུ་སྟེ་བཅོ་བརྒྱད་པའོ།། །།", "chinese_translation": "《窍诀本续·八支甘露心髓》中,关于饮食禁忌和适量饮食的章节,第十八章完毕。", "english_translation": "This concludes the eighteenth chapter on guarding against improper food and eating food in moderation, from the Secret Instructions Tantra, the Eight-Branched Essence of Ambrosia." , "english_translation": "Chapter Eighteen: Explaining the Method of Eating Food in Moderation." } ] ============================================================
