Explanation of the source and meaning of the two shlokas beginning with "Never meditated." Explanation of the source and meaning of the two shlokas beginning with "Never meditated." From the Treasure Lineage Biography: "In Paro Namthang White Land, the Mongol army was defeated; engaging in warfare and donning iron armor; this hidden treasure of Bumthang Tselung; the sign of extracting it without leaving any behind appeared; the treasure revealer was named Bonpo Draktsal." It is said that this treasure revealer was born in the Tsang Rongzar area. Because his lineage was Bonpo, he was known as such. He was an emanation of the union of Vairotsana and Palgyi Senge. He held mantras. His body was large and powerful. His lama name was Draktsal, and his secret name was Dorje Bar. Bumthang Tselung is a temple where the statues of the Buddhas of the three times reside. The Monpas call it the Three Jewels Temple. From that treasure site, the Dzogchen Guru Shyiwa, and a pusti called Shri Singha's Dzogrim Lama Mar Tri, representing the history of Guru Shyiwa, were brought forth. It is said that within this, there is the instruction: "Never meditated and never separated; the meaning of not meditating and never separating." This is also mentioned in the context of the Northern Treasure Kadak, when the great teacher Padmasambhava was residing in the secluded Chimphu, and Kharchenza Tso Gyal asked for the Ten Profound Key Points. The great Orgyen (Padmasambhava) said, "Previously, when I requested this profound instruction from the vidyadhara Shri Singha, 'Never meditated and never separated; the meaning of not meditating and never separating; by maintaining that very nature, one will attain both common and supreme siddhis.'" Paltrul Rinpoche, in his "Supreme Vehicle Ati's Instruction: Clarifying the Nature of Reality," quoted from Dzogchen Guru Shyiwa: "'Never meditated and never separated; the meaning of not meditating and never separating.' Because whatever arises is meditation, there is no meditation fabricated by the mind, so it is never meditated. Since it is not meaningless indulgence from the beginning, abiding in its own place, it is never separated. The meaning is to continuously not separate from such a meaning of not meditating." So it is said.
