The Commentary on Liberation from Bondage. The Commentary on Liberation from Bondage. The Commentary on Liberation from Bondage Exists. Om Svasti. Having paid homage to the lama who is the essence of Noble Avalokiteśvara, I shall explain this. In Sanskrit: Bandhavimuktopadeśa. Translated into Tibetan: The Oral Instruction on Liberation from Bondage. Homage to Noble Avalokiteśvara, the Lord of Power. This is the homage of the translation. Although the meaning of this small text is profound and vast, I will briefly explain the meaning of the words. Here, first and foremost, through the door of profound wisdom, the oral instruction on self-liberation from bondage is taught: Alas, what is the cause of bondage? That itself is the path of liberation. Here, there is no bondage whatsoever. Whatever is bondage, that is liberation. Thus it is said. Among these, "Alas" is a calling out. The cause of bondage is the afflictions and discursive thoughts. All sentient beings in samsara are bound because they do not know its nature. When a yogi knows how to see the face of his own mind, then the afflictions and discursive thoughts themselves become the path to liberation. Here, since neither the object of bondage, the agent of bondage, nor bondage itself are established in reality, if one recognizes them as if they do not exist, then whatever worldly people consider to be bondage, that will become the cause of liberation for the yogi. The first verse reveals the cause, basis, and time, the second reveals the path, and the remaining two also reveal the result. Then, through the door of special methods, (the oral instruction on) self-liberation from bondage (is taught): May desire be great bliss, may hatred blaze as a clear light flame, may ignorance be non-conceptual itself, may the three poisons spontaneously accomplish the three bodies. Thus it is said. Not only is it important to recognize the nature of emptiness and integrate it into the path, but there is also this profound and special method: without deliberately abandoning desire, but through the practice of dissolving bliss, the nature of great bliss will be manifested. The clarity of hatred itself appears as clear light, clear emptiness, and even when ignorance is dominant, such as in states of mental dullness and deep sleep, the quality of non-conceptuality is naturally present, so non-conceptuality is taken as the path. Desire's bliss is the enjoyment body, hatred's clarity is the emanation body, and ignorance's non-conceptuality is the dharma body. These three are primordially spontaneously present, and one should transform them into the path through skillful means. The Indian siddha
