The Practice of Peaceful and Wrathful Manjushri, Lord of Speech, Eye Medicine. The Practice of Peaceful and Wrathful Manjushri, Lord of Speech, Eye Medicine. Om Svasti! Manjushri, Lord of Speech, who possesses the peaceful and wrathful eye medicine form, having paid homage to him, I will write down the method for practicing him, clearly and concisely. With refuge and bodhicitta as preliminaries, purify into emptiness with Svabhava. From Pam (Tibetan, Devanagari: प, Romanized Sanskrit: paṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Pam) arises a lotus. From A (Tibetan, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal Chinese meaning: A) arises a moon disc. From my own mind arises Dhih (Tibetan, Devanagari: धी, Romanized Sanskrit: dhīḥ, Literal Chinese meaning: Dhih). From the emanation and gathering of dark blue light, I myself become Black Manjushri, with one face and two arms, the right hand brandishing a sword, the left hand holding an utpala flower at the heart, with the flower blooming open at the level of the ears, upon which rests the Prajnaparamita scripture. Seated in the vajra posture, slightly wrathful, adorned with silks, bone ornaments, and jewels. He dwells in the midst of blazing flames. Om Prasod (Tibetan, Devanagari: प्रसो, Romanized Sanskrit: prasod, Literal Chinese meaning: Prasod) Chusod (Tibetan, Devanagari: चुसो, Romanized Sanskrit: cusod, Literal Chinese meaning: Chusod) Durtasod (Tibetan, Devanagari: दुरतासो, Romanized Sanskrit: duratasod, Literal Chinese meaning: Durtasod) Nyinggola Chod (Tibetan, Devanagari: सྙिंगमगोलाचो, Romanized Sanskrit: snyingmagolaco, Literal Chinese meaning: Nyinggola Chod) Khalajva (Tibetan, Devanagari: खलाज्व, Romanized Sanskrit: khalajva, Literal Chinese meaning: Khalajva) Kam Sham Tram Rbad Phat Svaha (Tibetan, Devanagari: कमशंत्रंरबडफट्सवाहा, Romanized Sanskrit: kamshamtramrbaḍphaṭsvāhā, Literal Chinese meaning: Kam Sham Tram Rbad Phat Svaha). Recite one hundred and eight times, or as much as possible. If conceptual thought is strong, then visualize the deity with a wrathful appearance, hair tied up, left hand holding the scripture at the heart, right hand in the threatening mudra, standing with the right leg bent and the left leg extended, and recite one thousand and twenty-one times. The meaning of the eleven oral instructions: At dawn, face east, straighten the spine, inhale through the right nostril and exhale through the left nostril, visualize the lama on the crown of the head. Add to the end of the mantra: Sarva Jvara Roka Dusta Vighnana Upadrave, Shantim Kuru Ye Svaha (Tibetan, Devanagari: सर्वा ज्वर रोका दुष्टा विघ्नन उपद्रवे, शान्तिं कुरु ये स्वाहा, Romanized Sanskrit: sarva jvara rokā duṣṭā vighnana upadrave, śāntiṃ kuru ye svāhā, Literal Chinese meaning: All Fever Disease Evil Obstacles Disasters, Pacify Make Ye Svaha). Take the dirt from the two heel holes of your own feet with the left ring finger and smear it on the nine orifices and the six intersections. Do all of these before opening the outer practice. After completing the recitation, make a loud throat sound three times. Press the right thumb with the toenail of the left foot, and visualize that all harm-doers below the Brahma realm are suppressed. If conceptual thought is very strong, then reverse the clothes front to back, clap the palms, blow the breath out forcefully, and do not interrupt the recitation and meditation. It is said that this practice can overcome all diseases, evil spirits, and defilements, and that the blessings are also great. For this practice, only the transmission of the meditation is sufficient. If one performs the empowerment according to the practice of some, then one must rely on the peaceful deity and combine it with the practice of the Hundred Syllable Mantra. This praise, which is praised as being deeper than all, is proclaimed with joy as if it were newly brewed. It is clear as a Nyingma teaching, and my heart feels greatly amazed.
