Here, this brief outline of the ritual of the Glorious Four-Faced Protector must also clearly present the six mantras, six mudras, and so forth. Hum! Supreme deity, Mahakala, of great power! Subduing the wicked with fierce activities. Haha! From the great charnel ground of terror, I beseech the great field-protecting lord to come to this place! When swiftly commanding the eight classes of spirits, I beseech the snowy mountains of Tise to come to this place! When the four faces emanate in the ten directions, I beseech the abode of Potala to come to this place! When acting as the chief of many dakinis, I beseech you to come from the cool grove of the charnel ground! When crushing those who break vows and enemies, I beseech you to come from the sacred place of Darlung! When protecting yogis who keep their vows, I beseech you to come from the place of Kha'u Drakdzong! When spreading the Buddha's teachings in the ten directions, I beseech you to come from the retreat place of Jomo Nang! In the past, before Vajradhara, how did you, wrathful one, pledge? If I invoke you for the four kinds of activities, I beseech you to come to protect the Buddha's teachings! Hum! Supreme deity, Mahakala, of great power! Offering the samaya substances that are pleasing to you, a supreme horse adorned with precious ornaments, a great black yak, thick as clouds, a black sheep with a white forehead, shining like crystal, a black dog with a white heart, as fat as a bear, adorned with tufts of hair. Playing the sound of the melodious thighbone trumpet, fulfilling the heart commitment of the supreme deity Mahakala. From "Thus fulfilling" to "Grant empowerment and accomplishment, I beseech," is the same as above. Supreme deity, Mahakala, of great power! Offering the samaya substances that are pleasing to you, a torma adorned with samaya substances, an ocean of immortal nectar medicine, various kinds of excellent beverages, food and drink as vast as mountains and oceans, blessed by the samadhi mantra and mudra, this ocean of offerings with a hundred flavors, fulfilling the heart commitment of the supreme deity Mahakala. Fulfillment! I fulfill the oath of the field-protecting, all-seeing, powerful one! I fulfill the oath of the hero in the form of a Brahmin! I fulfill the oath of the great mother, black Yungmo! I fulfill the oath of the green, wrathful one who accomplishes deeds! I fulfill the oath of the yellow-black Singha Lingma! I fulfill the oath of the red-black great Rakshasi! I fulfill the oath of the assembly of field-protectors with their retinue! I fulfill the oath of the assembly of the eight classes of arrogant ones! May the oath be fulfilled together with the retinue! May the broken vows of the yogi be restored! Having fulfilled, I pray that you grant power and accomplishment! May the four-faced arrogant one and all his retinue protect and spread the Buddha's teachings! May they grind the harmful enemies and obstructers into dust! I pray that you grant pacifying, increasing, powerful, and accomplishing attainments! This was the instruction given by Tāranātha to his attendant Darma Sengge. Auspiciousness! A concise collection of the fulfillment and offering ritual for the Four-Faced Protector.
