The Root of Two Kinds of Yoga 20-318 ༄༅། །The Root of Two Kinds of Yoga. The Root of Two Kinds of Yoga. ༄༅། །Oṃ Svasti. (藏文:ༀ་,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:Om) Thus, let us briefly explain the order of the paths. That is the order of the seven branches. Furthermore, I prostrate with reverence to all the complete Buddhas residing in the ten directions, and their retinues, who benefit beings, who possess a mind like the sky. From now until forever, may I and all sentient beings, take refuge in the supreme guide and nirvana, and the noble sangha. 1. With flowers, incense, lamps, perfumes, and various foods, music, and garments, and the immeasurable merits done and to be done, I offer to the guide and his retinue. 2. I and the ignorant beings who have been drowning in the great ocean of endless samsara since beginningless time, confess all the negative deeds we have committed, such as the ten non-virtuous actions and the five heinous crimes. 3. I rejoice in the merits done and to be done by the ordinary beings who have not entered the path, as well as the stream-enterers, once-returners, non-returners, arhats, self-awakened buddhas, buddhas, and their retinues. 4. I request the hundreds of thousands of billions of those who desire peace to remain as long as samsara exists. Those who are afflicted by the poison of disturbing emotions, who are attached to the foul house of suffering, for the sake of seeing this peaceful garden, please bestow the nectar of the sacred Dharma, O Bhagavan. 5. All the guides of the ten directions, please pay attention to me. From now on, may I protect all my impermanent and limitless beings, and may I not do any harm to them. I will not remain in this ocean of samsara, 20-319 nor will I go to the solitary wilderness of peace. For the sake of all beings attaining enlightenment, I shall attain the unsurpassed enlightenment. 6. By doing so, may I clearly see the unsurpassed enlightenment with all merits. 7. The nature of things is without substance, all is like an illusion. Any yogi who wishes to understand this, should meditate in this way. Even if residing in a city or a solitary place, may the mind of enlightenment not diminish. The practice of unsurpassed enlightenment, should always be practiced with the mind. Thus, the household has many faults.

Always a place of sinful deeds, Having coquetry, strife, and eagle's cry, Always full of things that harm energy. Alas, when will I be liberated from this? That wise one therefore seeks solitude. Abandon the home full of faults, as if devoured by ghosts, He goes to the harmless forest, Whether hearing much or little, you princes, Those who always diligently practice meditation, Merely hearing are satisfied with this, That is like a livelihood person decaying. Thereafter, possessing wisdom, Relying on a virtuous friend, Seeking the supreme Dharma, Having taken the treasure of supreme instructions, Going to the depths of the forest, a place where vulgar people, Never tread, That supreme person goes there, Abiding with an upright body. Subduing the mind with the mind, Here gather the heroes, Many conceptual thoughts are extremely weakened, Pacified like ocean waves. If the mind becomes distracted, At that time, discipline with mindfulness. Remembering the enjoyment of desires, etc., At that time, desiring wealth and body, Conditioned phenomena are like illusionists, Like seasonal clouds flashing with lightning. Samsara is like a snake swallowing a corpse, Alas, I am in a place of distraction. Furthermore, hatred, greed, delusion, These robber-like great fears, Destroy with the army of love and dependent arising, And the meditation on unattractiveness. The mind is like a closed door, Conceptual thoughts cannot be moved by the wind, Will not be greedy for desires, Obtain the bliss of extreme taming. Thereafter, from great hearing, The Prajnaparamita is taught, Arising from that, the wise one, Meditates with the possession of instructions. Like a salu sprout rainbow, Dependent arising is so rare and wonderful, All phenomena are truly empty, Repeatedly meditate on this nature. With the possession of mindfulness and awareness, In all activities, rely on caution, For all things, just as how, The mind does not waver and discerns all phenomena. Thereafter, furthermore, whether the wise one stays at home, or stays at the edge, whether abiding in meditation, or enjoying desires, whether practicing for a long time, or being a beginner, temporarily cultivate compassion for all sentient beings.

Those who intend to kill anyone should be regarded as virtuous friends or as parents. If this is understood, one should transform the image and meditate. Or, meditate on loving-kindness for a while, and then definitely strive for compassion. Otherwise, the mind of enlightenment will not grow. Therefore, wishing to place all beings in the state of enlightenment, one should become accustomed to compassion, diligently endure harm and suffering, and then gradually and correctly train in the six perfections. Furthermore, bodhisattvas who train in compassion should make offerings to the noble Avalokiteśvara. One should recite, one should draw near and meditate. The concise collection of the path is complete. By the merit of writing this, may all sentient beings quickly attain unsurpassed enlightenment, constant happiness. Written by Bhikshu Kunga Nyingpo. Auspicious! Therefore, by the thousand rays of light of virtuous deeds, may the lotus garden of the good qualities of the teachings and beings fully bloom in all directions and times, and may the splendor of benefit and happiness blaze!
