Homage to the Guru and the Protector Mañjughoṣa! Here, this brief arrangement of the ritual for the glorious Four-Faced Protector will surely manifest the six-syllable mantra and the six mudrās, etc. Hūṃ! Supreme deity, Mahākāla, great power! Subduing the wicked with fierce activities, laughing wildly in the great charnel ground, I beseech the great field-protecting one to come to this place! Swiftly, as the commander of the eight classes, I beseech you to come to this place, the snow mountain of Tise! As the four faces emanate in the ten directions, I beseech you to come to this place, the celestial realm of Potala! As the chief of many ḍākinīs, I beseech you to come from the cool grove of the charnel ground! Subduing oath-breakers and enemies, I beseech you to come from the realm of Darlung Nyan! Protecting yogis who possess vows, I beseech you to come from the realm of Khau Drak Dzong! To spread the Buddha's teachings in the ten directions, I beseech you to come from the retreat of Jomo Nang! In the past, before Vajradhara, how did you, wrathful one, make promises? If you are invoked for the four activities, I beseech you to come to protect the Buddha's teachings! Hūṃ! Supreme deity, Mahākāla, great power! The samaya substances offered to you are: a supreme horse adorned with precious jewels, a great black yak, dense as clouds, a black sheep with a white head, shining like crystal, a black dog with a white heart, fat as a bear, adorned with many dark blue and black silk banners. Fulfill the heart commitment of the supreme deity, Mahākāla! Fulfill the heart commitment of the great black four-faced deity! Fulfill the heart commitment of the field-protecting, all-seeing, powerful one! Fulfill the heart commitment of the brave one in the form of a Brahmin! Blood, fat, meat, bones {filled accumulations} to fulfill. The sound of the melodious music of the leg bone horn is proclaimed. Fulfill the vows of the Supreme Mahakala. From "like this" to "fulfill, please grant blessings and accomplishments" is the same as above. Supreme Mahakala, great powerful deity, the corresponding samaya substances offered to you are: The torma with samaya substance decorations, the sea of immortal nectar medicine, the finest fresh drinks, all kinds of food and drink, like mountains and seas. Blessed with samadhi, mantra, and mudra, this ocean of offerings with a hundred flavors, fulfill the vows of the Supreme Mahakala. Fulfill the vows of the great black four-faced deity. Fulfill the vows of the field-protecting, all-seeing, powerful one. Fulfill the vows of the hero in the form of a Brahmin.
