Collection of Teachings by Tāranātha JT77: Tāranātha spoke after becoming convinced of the many falsehoods in the Dharma of oneself and others in the present time. Tāranātha spoke after becoming convinced of the many falsehoods in the Dharma of oneself and others in the present time. Oṃ Svasti. Namo Gurave. From a state free from elaboration in the expanse, immediately he performs the benefit of beings according to what is suitable for each. Without deviating from the general Dharma words and meanings, the Lama Lord who shows the essential meaning. From this place, the yogis of the realm of snow, pray with strong faith and devotion. Bless the minds of the disciples. In general, please take hold with compassion so that I may realize the rootless. Through the kindness of that blessed father, even I have seen the nature of the mind. Through the kindness of that knowledgeable Lord, a decision has been made on the place of definite meaning. Through the kindness of that all-compassionate one, the conceptualizations of external enemies and friends have subsided. Through the kindness of that protector who has dispelled delusion, inner clinging has vanished into its own place. My devotion to the Lord is increasing, and there is no measure to his kindness. Keep this in your minds, you who have gathered here. In general, now that we have obtained a human body, it is very important to have something meaningful. Is this human body, which does not practice the sacred Dharma, not worse than an animal? You must definitely have certainty about the state of impermanent samsara. It is very important to seize the lifeline of liberation. From the beginningless samsara of the past, until today, the body's actions, going, staying, sleeping, and rising, the speech's speaking, tiring, and striving path, the mind's thinking and wandering, even if you try to practice Dharma, it is in vain. In general, sin is the cause of suffering, and unstated actions are a waste of life. That virtue that has not gone to the path of liberation is a means of creating samsara. That fabrication that is not seized by Mahamudra is a cause of disturbing the mind's conceptualizations. That experience that is not mixed with meditation is deceiving when the essential meaning is met. That emptiness that is not seized by compassion, even if it is good, is a cause of the Hinayana. That ignorance that despises the result of actions is a cause of going to hell. That view that does not know its own face is a drawing of fabricated elaboration.

Ah! The afflictions that stand on their own, Though seemingly rough, are actually gentle. The thoughts that have lost their root, Though seemingly apparent, are in the realm of vanishing. The effortless, self-cognizant thoughts, Though seemingly moving, are self-liberating. The virtuous roots not grasped by pure intention, are busy but bear little fruit. The recitations not undertaken with a vast mind, are mentally burdensome but accomplish little. The meditation and recitation not grasped by bodhicitta, have no difference from Bön rituals. Now, one should place the body in the essential point, Let speech abandon words and be relaxed, Let the mind be without fabrication, clear and still. May we recognize the father lama as the dharmakaya, May we have vows without deceit, May we have faith and respect without hypocrisy, May we rest in the uncorrected, natural state of the essence of whatever afflictions arise. As long as the mind's nature is naturally maintained, Whatever arises is effortlessly present, beyond words. This is something that has been there from the very beginning, It is a great pity not to recognize that it is there! This is called the instruction of uncorrected relaxation. Whatever one does with body, speech, and mind, In the essence of self-standing awareness, From a state where all fixations dissolve, Without grasping at the characteristics of acceptance and rejection, Do not boast of being good in behavior, Nor is there a need for artificial adornment. In the relaxed conduct of whatever arises, It is crucial not to become artificial. This is the instruction of equality of acceptance and rejection. Attachment to the essence of meditative experience, Is like a silkworm in its cocoon, A self-imposed deception of binding oneself. At this time of the evening feast gathering, In the great palace of the sacred place, A person named Tara Natha, sang this song as a way of instruction. I offer it as a tribute to the venerable lama! Thus, this was sung as a song to introduce to some students. Because I had not written for a few days, to avoid forgetting, I wrote it at the request of those present today, in Gongkar (Gonggar County). May it be auspicious! Table of Contents Having become certain of the many hypocritical situations of self and others who are practitioners today, Tara Natha spoke thus.
