Instructions from Tāranātha to Sūrya-vijaya: May there be auspiciousness! The conduct of the great accomplished Vajradhara, merely hearing his name is filled with great meaning. Please turn the minds of my disciples and me towards the Dharma. I pray to you, the treasure of compassion. Now that we have obtained a human body and at this time when we meet a qualified master, if we do not strive in practice, there is a danger of wasting our lives. The king of practice is devotion, the king of conducive conditions is renunciation, the king of actions is non-action, and the king of samadhi is self-arising. This instruction possessing the four kings is the oral instruction of a qualified lama, the heart essence of all accomplished ones, and the experience of me, Tāranātha. Practices with names are just one aspect. That happy Dharma that is of no help in times of suffering, although it is a skillful means of guidance, cannot lead you to the state of directly realizing the Buddha. To see your own face nakedly, you must have devotion to a qualified master. Sweet words of calling the lama Buddha, and the attachment of having to see everything done as good, that devotion that arises merely from not doing, that is fundamentally hypocritical and wrong. Even if you think you are practicing well, it is just sound and you do not see the real meaning. There is no pulling between Buddha and sentient beings. In the one unborn mind of Dharmakaya, even if actions are wrong, they can be understood as right, and the unbiased benefit of beings is very vast. Whether blessings enter or not, whether accomplishments are attained or not, make a firm decision that there is no other refuge than the lama, and pray like this. Rest your mind inseparable from the lama's mind. Where is there autonomy for not generating meditation? The desire for happiness with food and clothing is a great distraction to spiritual practice. That distraction named as conducive conditions is not needed by yogis. That strong renunciation and aversion in the mind is a companion to dispel loneliness when living alone, a servant to take care of illness when the body is sick, and a conducive condition to confront the distraction of remembering food and clothing. For things that have not been done before, everything that has been done has become provisions for samsara. Now relax and rest in the state of non-action, and you have seized the eternal fortress. With mind.

Even if one diligently engages in virtuous deeds, 1-641 One has not attained the unwavering, stable ground. That key point of the unchanging expanse, If left in its natural state, one obtains the unchanging. One should not try to modify what arises naturally, Recognizing the unfabricated is extremely important. If the mind is self-luminous without conceptual thoughts, That luminous clarity and emptiness, if one recognizes its own nature, abides as the Dharmakaya. When one recognizes oneself, No matter how great the magic of thoughts may be, no matter how many appearances of pleasure and pain arise, All are the play of the Dharmakaya. There is no difference between thought and non-thought, the self-manifestation of abiding and moving. Like an ice cube melting into water, whatever appears is vividly clear as one's own mind. From the moment of appearance, there is no trace, object and subject, the appearances of emptiness never cease. From the three Kayas of the Buddhas above, to the hell realms below, Everything appears without exception. However it appears, it is free from elaboration. It transcends the realm of all verbal expression, The mind experiences self-aware great bliss. Again, increase the virtuous deeds with elaboration, Everything is the play of Mahamudra. Through the perfection of the two accumulations of skillful means and wisdom, One realizes the intention of the Buddhas. If one practices it, it is like nectar, If one only talks about it, it is empty boasting. One should practice it completely in the continuum, Please become proficient in practice. This is also Tāranātha's advice to Sūrya-vijaya. May there be auspiciousness! Table of Contents Tāranātha's Advice to Sūrya-vijaya.
