English version Verses for Entering the Uposatha Hall, etc. No. 2852 Verses for Entering the Uposatha Hall, etc. Holding precepts purely like the full moon, body and mouth are bright and without blemish. Pure and harmonious without contention, then one can participate in the Uposatha (Buddhist observance). Verses for Receiving Water The water of eight merits purifies all dust, washing the palms removes defilement, the mind is without stain. Upholding the precepts without transgression, may all sentient beings be like this. Verses for Bath Token Arhats (enlightened disciples) and holy monks gather, ordinary people assemble in harmony. Fragrant water cleanses, Uposatha (Buddhist observance) delivers sentient beings. Verses for Receiving Fragrant Water Fragrant water washes away all impurities, the Dharma body is complete with the five divisions fulfilled. Prajna (wisdom) illuminates perfectly, liberation is complete, all beings gather together, the Dharma realm merges. Verses for Chanting Incense Offering The incense of precepts, the incense of Samadhi (meditative concentration), the incense of liberation, the bright cloud platform pervades the world. Offering to the countless Buddhas of the ten directions, may all who see and hear be universally perfumed and attain Nirvana (state of enlightenment). Verses for Receiving Token The indestructible, unobstructed liberation token, difficult to obtain the □□□□□□ fruit. I now joyfully receive it with reverence, may all sentient beings be like this. Verses for Returning Token Having fully and purely received this token, having fully and purely returned this token. Holding firmly to the precepts without transgression, may all sentient beings be like this. Verses of Pure Wonder Pure like the full moon, pure, one should observe Uposatha (Buddhist observance). Body, mouth, and mind are pure, then one can participate in the Uposatha (Buddhist observance). Verses After Uposatha The Buddhas appearing in the world is the greatest joy, hearing the Dharma and practicing it is joyful.
