English version: Explanation: The five accomplishments of transformation mean that it is truly a Bodhisattva. Because of this reason, it is not called rare. Those in the future who do not have these five meanings, but have many obstacles and difficulties and can uphold it, are called the most rare. Sutra: Why? This is the second part, explaining separately. There are three aspects in the text: first, explaining the emptiness of self (我空, wǒ kōng), second, explaining the emptiness of dharma (法空, fǎ kōng), and third, explaining the emptiness of both (俱空, jù kōng). Regarding the emptiness of self, first asking and then explaining, this is the beginning. The general question is, why is it that only those in the future who uphold the sutra can achieve the most rare? Sutra: This person has no concept of self (我相, wǒ xiàng), person (人相, rén xiàng), sentient being (众生相, zhòng shēng xiàng), or lifespan (寿者相, shòu zhě xiàng). This is the explanation of the second part. The word 'concept' (相, xiàng) here is used in the sense of 'thought' (想, xiǎng). Because the person who upholds the sutra understands the emptiness of self, they can no longer generate thoughts of self, person, etc. Sutra: Why? This is the second part, explaining the emptiness of dharma. First asking and then explaining, this is the initial question. Should the thought of the emptiness of self alone exist? Sutra: The concept of self is the concept of non-concept, the concept of person, sentient being, and lifespan are the concept of non-concept. This is the later explanation. 'Concept of self, etc.' refers to the mind that can grasp self, etc. 'Is the concept of non-concept' refers to the fact that this grasping mind itself is empty. Sutra: Why? This is the second part, explaining the emptiness of both. First asking and then explaining, this is the initial question. All dharmas cannot be separated from the grasper and the grasped. Now, generally speaking of emptiness, what does it mean? Sutra: To be free from all concepts is called all Buddhas. This is the later explanation. If 'concepts' are not empty, Buddhas should not be free from them. The one who is free and attains enlightenment is emptiness. Sutra: The Buddha told Subhuti: Yes, yes. If someone hears this sutra and is not startled, not frightened, not afraid, know that this person is very rare. This is the third part, narrating praise. Saying 'yes, yes' means that what was said above is exactly the truth, so it is called 'yes, yes', which is an affirmation. 'Hearing this sutra and not being startled, not being frightened, not being afraid' means that they have achieved faith and understanding. The treatise says that 'startled' refers to generating fear where it should not be generated, so it is called 'startled', because it is reprehensible, like walking on a path that should not be walked. 'Frightened' refers to the mind feeling fear, already arisen but unable to be cut off. 'Fear' refers to 'dread', 'dread' refers to being afraid in one direction, their mind will eventually be startled, frightened, and fall. Being free from these three states.

English version: Because of hearing, believing, and understanding this Sutra, it is called rare and wonderful. Sutra: Why is that? Because this Sutra is superior to other Sutras, it is supreme. The text is further divided into two parts: first, a question is raised, and then an explanation is given. This is the initial question. 'Not being surprised, etc.,' what is so special about it that it is called rare and wonderful? Sutra: Subhuti (佛陀的弟子), the Tathagata (佛陀的称号) speaks of the First Paramita (到彼岸), which is not the First Paramita; therefore, it is called the First Paramita. This is the subsequent explanation. It means that this Sutra is the most subtle among all Paramita teachings. Therefore, it is difficult for the world to generate faith and understanding, and doubts and slanders often arise. Thus, if one hears this Sutra and does not give rise to surprise or doubt, it is extremely rare. 'The Tathagata speaks of the First Paramita' refers to the First Paramita explained in this Sutra. 'Not the First Paramita' means it is not the First Paramita explained in other Sutras. 'Therefore, it is called the First Paramita' concludes the first statement.
