At one time, the Buddha was in the Jetavana Anathapindika-arama (祇樹給孤獨園) in Shravasti (舍衛國). At that time, the Buddha told Ananda (阿難): 'I will now speak the Great Samantabhadra Dharani (大普賢咒). You should receive and uphold it.' ‘Duo zhi duo, A zha, Na zha, Cha mi cha, Zhe ju li, Ju li cha ye, Ju li cha ye ba di, Si ti, Si tuo, Po meng di.’ Ananda, this Great Samantabhadra Dharani can extinguish all weapons, eliminate all enemies, eliminate all fears from Yakshas (夜叉), Rakshasas (羅剎), Putanas (復多), etc., and eliminate the names of all lower ghosts who cannot eat. ‘Hu mo dou (1), Wu she hou hou hu mo dou (2), A nou jie bi hu mo dou (3), Po po luo hu mo dou (4), Svaha (5).’ Chant this mantra over water seven times and give it to the sick person to drink. On the first day of the month, if the left ear hurts, sit facing south; if the right ear hurts, sit facing north. Facing east, the patient sits inside the door, and the mantra master sits outside the door. Use water to recite fourteen times (two sets of seven times) outside the door, then blow air three times. The Iron Wheel Vajra Wheel (Tielun Jingang Lun) will inflict suffering upon them, causing their heads to break into seven pieces. In all directions, if anyone harbors evil intentions towards this person, their poisonous hearts will be bound, preventing them from arising.
