English version The Sutra of the Twelve Names of the Great Auspicious Goddess Spoken by the Buddha Translated by the Tripiṭaka Śramaṇa Amoghavajra of the Da Guangzhi Da Xing Shansi Temple, who was appointed by imperial decree as the Minister of Public Works, with the title of Duke of Su of the State, entitled to a fief of three thousand households, granted purple robes, posthumously awarded the title of Grand Preceptor of the Court, and posthumously honored with the title of Da Jian. Thus have I heard. At one time, the Bhagavan (World Honored One) was in the World of Bliss. At that time, Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva came to the Buddha's place, bowed his head to the Buddha's feet, and withdrew to sit on one side. At that time, the Great Auspicious Goddess, the Bodhisattva Mahāsattva, also went to the Buddha's place, prostrated herself at the Buddha's feet, and withdrew to sit on one side. At that time, the World Honored One, wishing to benefit sentient beings with little merit and who are poor, seeing the Auspicious Goddess, said to Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva: 'If there are bhikṣus, bhikṣuṇīs, upāsakas, upāsikās, and all other sentient beings who know these twelve names of the Great Auspicious Goddess, and who uphold, recite, study, make offerings, and proclaim them to others, they will be able to eliminate all karmic obstacles of poverty and obtain abundant wealth and riches.' At that time, all the devas, nāgas, and eight classes of beings in the assembly said in unison: 'What the World Honored One has said is true and not false. We wish to hear the twelve names. We beseech the World Honored One to compassionately expound them.' The Buddha said: 'You should listen well. Now I will tell you the so-called:' Auspicious Celebration, Auspiciousness, Lotus, Adornment, Possessing Wealth, White, Great Name, Great Radiance, Giver of Food, Giver of Drink, Jewel Light, Great Auspiciousness. 'These are the twelve names, you should uphold them. English version: Thus I have heard. This great auspicious Dharani and the twelve names can eliminate poverty and all misfortunes. All wishes and requests can be fulfilled. If one can recite this sutra three times during the day and night, three times each time, or constantly uphold it without interruption, with a mind of benefiting others, and sincerely make offerings to Mahasri (Great Auspicious Goddess) according to one's ability, one will quickly obtain all wealth, abundance, and auspiciousness. At that time, Avalokiteśvara (The Bodhisattva of Compassion) and all the assembly, including the eight classes of gods and dragons, having heard the Buddha speak of the twelve names and the mantra, exclaimed that they had never heard of such a thing before.
