English version The Sutra of the Narayana Strength Asked by Elder Mahavyuha Translated by Prajna and Liyan, Tripitaka masters from the Kingdom of Kipin Thus have I heard: At one time, the Bhagavan (Bhagavan, the World-Honored One) was in the Jeta Grove of the Anathapindada Garden (Jetavana-anāthapiṇḍada-ārāma, Jeta's Grove) in the country of Śrāvastī (Śrāvastī, an ancient Indian city). At that time, the Elder Mahavyuha rose from his seat, arranged his clothes, knelt down with his palms together, and said to the Buddha: 'Great Virtuous World-Honored One! What will be the reward for all sentient beings who give food and drink?' At that time, the Bhagavan told the elder: 'If one gives food, one will obtain the strength of the Tathagata.' At that time, the great elder again said to the Buddha: 'World-Honored One! Can the strength of the Tathagata be explained through metaphors, so that I can hear and understand?' The Buddha told the elder: 'Yes, good man! It cannot be fully explained with few causes and conditions.' English version: 'The strength of an Arjuna (Arjuna's strength) is equal to one Vimacita's strength (Vimacita's strength), ten Vimacita's strengths are equal to one Narayana's strength (Narayana's strength), six hundred and sixty-three Narayana's strengths are equal to the strength of one pore of the Buddha Bhagavan (Buddha World Honored One), each of the eighty-four thousand pores possesses such Narayana's strength, and the strength of eighty-four thousand pores is equal to the strength of one joint of the Bhagavan (Bhagavan, an epithet for the Buddha).' The Buddha told the elder: 'Therefore, you should know that in each joint of the Buddhas Tathagatas, there are eighty-four thousand six hundred and sixty-three kinds of Narayana's strength.' After the Buddha finished speaking this sutra, the Elder Mahavyuha heard what the Buddha said, and joyfully accepted and practiced it.
