此四大士，皆过去十方诸佛之师。此四大士，初始造行之时，发大誓愿言：“我当度一切众生，至其都得涅槃，然后当取佛。”以是故应诵念诵持，得无量无边功德至不退转。譬如三千世界尽虚空满中紫磨黄金，用之布施；不如一须臾之间诵念此四大士名，其所得功德，出过尔所黄金施上千亿万倍。其名曰： 弃阴盖菩萨、寂根菩萨、慧威菩萨、不离菩萨。 六菩萨亦当诵持经 现代汉语译本： 这四大菩萨，都是过去十方诸佛的老师。这四大菩萨，最初开始修行的时候，发下宏大的誓愿说：‘我应当度化一切众生，直到他们全部证得涅槃，然后我才成佛。’因此，应当诵念受持他们的名号，可以获得无量无边的功德，达到永不退转的境界。譬如用充满三千大千世界虚空的紫磨黄金来布施，也不如一须臾（很短的时间）之间诵念这四大菩萨的名号，其所获得的功德，超过用那些黄金布施所得功德的千亿万倍。他们的名字是： 弃阴盖菩萨（Qiyingai Pusa，去除五阴之盖障的菩萨）、寂根菩萨（Jigen Pusa，寂静诸根的菩萨）、慧威菩萨（Huiwei Pusa，具有智慧威德的菩萨）、不离菩萨（Buli Pusa，永不舍离众生的菩萨）。 六位菩萨的名号也应当诵持。

English version: These four great Bodhisattvas are all teachers of the Buddhas of the ten directions in the past. When these four great Bodhisattvas initially began their practice, they made a great vow, saying: 'I shall liberate all sentient beings until they all attain Nirvana, and then I shall become a Buddha.' Therefore, one should recite and uphold their names, and one will obtain immeasurable and boundless merits, reaching the state of non-retrogression. For example, if one were to fill the entire void of the three thousand great thousand worlds with Jambu-river gold and use it for almsgiving, it would not be comparable to reciting the names of these four great Bodhisattvas for even a short moment (ksana); the merits obtained would exceed the merits of giving away that gold by a thousand trillion times. Their names are: Qiyingai Bodhisattva (Qiyingai Pusa, Bodhisattva who removes the cover of the five skandhas), Jigen Bodhisattva (Jigen Pusa, Bodhisattva who has pacified the roots), Huiwei Bodhisattva (Huiwei Pusa, Bodhisattva with wisdom and power), Buli Bodhisattva (Buli Pusa, Bodhisattva who never abandons sentient beings).
