English version Thus have I heard: At one time, the Buddha was in the Dharma field Bodhi-mandala in Rājagṛha, seated on a diamond-mani lion throne. There were many Bodhisattva-mahāsattvas surrounding him, and also hundreds of thousands of koṭi-niyutas of beings from ten Buddha-kṣetras listening to the Buddha's teachings. At that time, there was a Bodhisattva-mahāsattva in the assembly named Acintyaprabhārāja, who rose from his seat, looked around at the Bodhisattvas in the assembly, and then said to everyone: 'You sons of the Buddha, now listen carefully! The time of one mahākalpa in this Sahā-lokadhātu, when measured, is equivalent to one day and night in the Buddha-kṣetra of Amitāyus in the Western Sukhāvatī world.' 'Sons of the Buddha! English version A great kalpa, when measured, is equivalent to one day and one night in the Dharma-adorned body Tathagata Buddha-land of the Difficult-to-Conquer World (a Buddha-land name). ‘Buddha-son!’, one great kalpa of that Difficult-to-Conquer World, when measured, is equivalent to one day and one night in the All-Penetrating-Intent King Tathagata Buddha-land of the Moha World (a Buddha-land name). ‘Buddha-son!’, one great kalpa of that Moha World, when measured, is equivalent to one day and one night in the Praising Tathagata Buddha-land of the Manifest-Perfect-Light World (a Buddha-land name). ‘Buddha-son!’, like this, all worlds, when calculated by kalpas, after passing ten Buddha-lands, a hundred thousand koti nayuta dust-mote kalpas, there is a world named Lotus Auspicious, and the World-Honored Buddha there is named Virtuous Auspicious, which is one day and one night in that Buddha-land. ‘Buddha-son!’, there is a Bodhisattva whose stage of practice is named Universal Practice Stage, who practices such immeasurable Bodhisattva practices. ‘Buddha-son!’, if someone can receive, uphold, recite, and explain this ‘Sutra on Measuring the Merits of All Buddha-lands’ for others, then when this person's life ends, the Tathagata Buddhas, as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River in the ten directions, will all appear before them, fulfilling all their wishes. After the Buddha finished speaking this sutra, the Inconceivable Light King Bodhisattva and all the assembly present, hearing what the Buddha had said, were all greatly delighted, and accepted it with faith and practiced accordingly.
