If there are white and protective deity tormas, take them to the roof and shout "Lha Gyal (ལྷ་རྒྱལ།, Gods Victory)" three times in all four directions. Wave the arrow banner. Take the black effigy torma and the patron's effigy outside the door and send them in the direction of dispelling the five ghosts and demons. Make sounds of "Ghosts defeated," accompanied by sounds of "Ki shang," slings, and shouts. Then, perform three claps and complete the remaining offering rituals. In some practices, the patron's soul support (བླ་རྟེན།) is placed in front of them, along with the soul sheep and water. At the end of the main practice, recite the mantra "ཨ་ཧ་རི་ནི་ས་རྫབ་རྫབ་རྫུབ་རྫུབ་བྷ་དྲ་སློང་སློང་ནྲྀ་ཁུག་ཛ་ཛཿ" (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning). After cursing, if the soul sheep does not just circle once but faces the soul support and stands there, it is said to be a sign that the soul has entered the effigy. Afterwards, recite the ending part of the thirteen types of soul ransom texts, such as "ཀྱེ། སྣང་ཞིང་སྲིད་པའི་ལྷ་འདྲེ་དང་། །" (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning), and perform the departure offering. If performing multiple times, repeat starting from the six-syllable mantra and six-armed Avalokiteśvara. Each time, sprinkle barley, pieces of meat, grains, etc., on the effigy torma. Continue this practice until signs of the soul entering the effigy appear, or the soul sheep faces the soul support, etc. This soul ransom ritual is part of the life accomplishment practice, so it is best to combine it with the self-generation deity of any life accomplishment practice, such as the life accomplishment practice of the peaceful and wrathful Guru. May there be auspiciousness! It is said that this soul ransom ritual is called "Completely Victorious from the Battle of the Lord of Death," and it comes from the Nyingma tradition's scriptures, being a Sakya practice.
