In order to repeatedly obtain merit surpassing the previous, in what place does one become irreversible? The great being enters that Immovable Bhumi. That great being who abides in the eighth Bodhisattva Bhumi, in order to repeatedly obtain merit surpassing the two accumulations of the previous seventh Bhumi and below, in the place where one obtains the forbearance of non-arising dharmas, becomes irreversible in all aspects from complete enlightenment, and will enter that eighth Bhumi, the Immovable. How then, in the eighth Bhumi, does one obtain merit surpassing the seventh Bhumi and below? Because in the seventh Bhumi and below, there is effort involved, while having attained the eighth Bhumi, one enters naturally without effort. For example, a large ship, before reaching the ocean, must be propelled by effort to move forward, but after reaching the ocean, it is propelled by the wind and moves quickly without effort, just like the difference between fast and slow. Furthermore, the aspirations of this one become extremely pure, and the Buddhas urge him to rise from cessation. The countless hundreds of thousands of aspirations that this Bodhisattva made when first generating the mind of enlightenment will also become completely pure at this stage, and therefore, his perfection of aspiration will become even more supreme. Immediately upon attaining the Immovable Bhumi, the Bodhisattva abandons all defilements, and in order to become accustomed to the realm of Dharma for a long time, he will abide effortlessly in the cessation of suchness. At that time, the Buddhas will say, \"Our wisdom, power, and other Buddha-dharmas, you do not yet possess, so strive diligently.\" In this way, they urge him to rise from cessation and encourage him to attain the wisdom of the Tathagata. Why do they urge him to rise from cessation? In order to obtain the Buddha-dharmas. For example: Because an unattached mind cannot coexist with faults, those stains and their roots in the eighth Bhumi will be pacified, afflictions will be exhausted, and one will become the supreme of the three realms." } ] ============================================================

I, the Buddhas, cannot fully attain the boundless and limitless perfections like the sky. The cause of rebirth for the eighth-ground Bodhisattva, becoming the defilements of afflictions in the three realms, those are eradicated and pacified, just as light and darkness cannot coexist, the wisdom without attachment to anything and without discrimination cannot coexist with faults such as attachment. Therefore, because all afflictions are exhausted, he is worthy of offerings, and even if he becomes the supreme of the three realms, he cannot fully attain the perfections of the qualities of the Buddhas. In order to attain it, he must strive diligently. If the Bodhisattva abandons all afflictions at this stage, since there is no cause for rebirth in samsara, how can his Buddha-dharmas be perfected? Even if samsara ceases, he will attain the ten powers, and they will show various selves in the beings of existence. Although he has stopped samsara, even so, he will attain the ten powers that will be explained, and by the power of these, for the benefit of other beings in the beings of existence, he will show various entities of himself through the door of the mind-made body. Therefore, it is not contradictory for him to complete all accumulations. What is this mind-made body? Like this: Just as the mind goes anywhere with just a wish, and there is no obstacle to anything, this is also similar to that, so it is called the mind-made body. The ten powers are: giving life for incalculable eons, having power over life; entering into immeasurable gates of samadhi, having power over samadhi; showing blessings that adorn the world with various ornaments, having power over equipment; showing the ripening of karma as it is in time through blessings, having power over karma; showing rebirth in accordance with the beings to be tamed in the worlds, having power over rebirth; showing perfect enlightenment in any Buddha-field and time as one pleases, having power over aspiration.
