Also, in one question and answer, what are the nature and differences between dedication and aspiration? Do these two require something to precede them? Regarding this question, the nature of dedication is to transform any virtuous roots of the three times into a method for obtaining special fruits. Distinguishing from the perspective of nature, there is the mind of intention accompanied by wisdom, which transforms virtuous roots into a method for obtaining special fruits; and the verbal actions that are grasped by that wisdom, such as \"All the Buddhas who have passed in the past, present, and future.\" Among these, the mind is primary, and speech is secondary. Distinguishing from the perspective of object, there is the dedication for the cause of Indra and Brahma, which is the dedication for higher realms; and the dedication for the cause of enlightenment, which is the dedication for definite goodness, there are two types. The latter can also be divided into three types: dedication for the cause of the three enlightenments of Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and complete Buddhas. The nature of aspiration is to have hope for the special fruit that is desired and to wish to obtain it. Distinguishing from the perspective of nature, there is the mind of intention accompanied by the desire to obtain special fruits, and the verbal actions that are grasped by that desire, such as \"May I quickly attain omniscience by this merit.\" The primary and secondary are the same as before. Distinguishing from the perspective of object, there is the aspiration to obtain higher realms such as Indra, which is the aspiration for higher realms; and the aspiration to obtain enlightenment, which is the aspiration for definite goodness, there are two types. The latter can also be divided into three types of enlightenment. The difference between these two is that dedication emphasizes wisdom, and the object of dedication must be any virtuous root of the three times. Aspiration emphasizes desire, and there are cases where aspirations are made after accumulating virtuous roots, and there are also cases where aspirations are made without accumulating virtuous roots, so it is not necessary for something to precede it.
