Instructions to the Noblewoman Chöpal Zangmo of Yarlung Instructions to the Noblewoman Chöpal Zangmo of Yarlung Instructions to the Noblewoman Chöpal Zangmo of Yarlung. The letter of advice from the noblewoman Bhikshuni, along with a crescent-shaped offering, was delivered here by Geshe Yeshe Pal, and I rejoice in it. The main point: This extremely rare and precious leisure and endowment, if distracted by meaningless activities of this life, accumulating sins instead of Dharma, and regretting at the time of death, is like going to a treasure island and returning empty-handed. The body and life that sustain us are like the flow of a river, not staying for a moment, heading towards the ocean of death. The results of white and black karma are like one's own shadow, never separating, following after the mind. Retinue and possessions, the abundance of relatives and friends, are all deceptions of this life, like children's games. Except for the white and black karma one has accumulated oneself, when going to the next life, no one follows. Non-virtuous actions throw one into the abyss of the lower realms, virtuous merit connects one with the glory of the happy realms. Therefore, remember impermanence and death, and strive to engage in the diligence of abandoning evil and engaging in virtue. This was spoken from the mountainside of Gang Bu Le, as advice to the Bhikshuni Chöpal Zangmo. May it be auspicious! Instructions to the Noblewoman Chöpal Zangmo of Yarlung.
