Advice to Wobo Sonam Gyaltsen Advice to Wobo Sonam Gyaltsen Advice to Wobo Sonam Gyaltsen. Homage to the Lord of the World). A hundred petals of wisdom, adorned with the stamen of compassion, The essence of the sacred Dharma, holding the fragrance of activity, The basis for the sustenance of fortunate beings, like bees, I bow to him who is the friend of the Sun of the Sage. Born from the precious essence of merit and virtue, Like a victorious banner at its peak, a king of power, A mandala of intelligence, with a thousand lights of reason, I send forth this well-spoken radiance to him. In this ocean of existence, with waves of birth and tides of aging and death, A place of a hundred kinds of evils, with crocodiles and aquatic monsters, In this fathomless ocean of existence, May you renounce all attachment to yourself and others. Suffering flows like a river of a billion streams, With the insatiable salt of existence from desire, A great abyss of evil destinies, difficult to cross with effort, Who with a mind would not renounce this? In the past, countless mountains of bones have been piled up, And many oceans of blood and tears have been crossed, Yet still, one must pass through even more than that, Will you not be content with this birth? Having been immersed in the ocean of various actions, And drawn from afar by the filth of afflictions, Even though the fisherman of death has destroyed you hundreds of times, Are you still not weary of the flood of birth? From beginningless time, many times you have been a mother, These kind beings who have been cared for with love, Knowing that they are tormented by unbearable suffering, Moisten your mind with genuine compassion. The stream of milk that drips from the strength of love, Which you have drunk even more than the ocean, If mothers are distracted by the flood of suffering, Who is more shameless than one without love? These beings have looked at you again and again with loving eyes, And called me again and again by sweet names, They have shed many streams of tears with the force of longing, It is fitting to impress their suffering upon your mind. Even though you have heard and remembered the unbearable suffering of the loving mothers of beginningless time, If there is not even a slight change in love, The heart of such a person is of the nature of a vajra. The ultimate nature is the nature of emptiness, free from elaboration, The conventional nature is the law of dependent origination, like an illusion, Having properly analyzed these with valid cognition and reason, Cut off

Guard the view that is free from extremes. Regarding the ultimate reality, the nature of emptiness, free from elaboration, Even if examined many times, there is no fear, And the hairs of joy grow again and again. There is no opportunity to constantly observe it. Regarding the nature of illusory phenomena, dependent arising in conventional truth, Knowing that the results of karma, both good and bad, are infallible, Unfeigned compassion will arise for beings, Thereby abandoning the view of nihilism for a long time. Without tasting the supreme flavor of the nectar of vast learning, And being separated from the eye of valid cognition, Those who are ignorant of the distinction between the two truths, Even if they strive for hundreds of eons, they will not find liberation. The treatises accepted by the noble and wise ones, The single path traversed by the Buddhas of the three times, The three pillars of the Mahayana path, Fortunate one, you should practice this way. From now until the essence of enlightenment, Practice conduct and aspiration in harmony, On the single Vajra Throne, a field of merit and fortune, May you attain the state of immortal nectar. This is a verse sent to his disciple by the Shakya monk, Youthful Wisdom, at the place of Gangkar Pülei (a snow mountain). May auspiciousness and well-being prevail in all the worlds! Advice to nephew Sonam Gyaltsen.
