The Chapter on Studying Medicine. The Chapter on Studying Medicine. Then, he went to the land of the lotus possessor, and met the son of the physician, the youthful nourisher. When asked, "What do you know?" he said, "I know medicine." When I asked him to teach me medicine, he said, "I am old, my body trembles, and I have no skill. If there is no teacher, I cannot teach, but if there is one, I can teach." Three months are summer, and three months are known as autumn. Three are winter, and three are spring. Thus, the order of the months has six seasons. One year is considered to have twelve months. Know that the phrases are gathered in threes. Two months each are shown as the season of trees. Food and drink are digested in that way. The physician, the humors, and the seasons are also shown. The senses and the humors are also like that. In one year, the joints (65a) completely change. Because the senses completely change, various diseases also arise in sentient beings. In this, the physician should know the three or four months, the intervals between the joints, the six seasons, and the six elements, and be skilled in them. Food, drink, and medicine are in order. Wind disease arises greatly in summer. When it becomes autumn, bile moves. In the winter season, it is the same with aggregation. Diseases with a greater proportion of phlegm arise in spring. Summer is warm, salty, and sour in taste. Autumn is sweet, warm, and cool. Winter is sweet, sour, and oily. Spring is rough, warm, and hot. Great phlegm arises immediately after eating. Great bile arises when digestion is complete. Great wind arises immediately after digestion. The movement of the three humors is like that. For the nature of wind, nourishment is the remedy. Bile is treated with purgatives. For aggregation, the three should be in harmony. If phlegm falls to the lower part, emetics should be given. Know the seasons of great wind, bile, aggregation, and great phlegm. Whatever the time, whatever the humor, whatever the body, one should rely on its medicine and food. I am the nature of a physician, greatly skilled, possessing eight branches of knowledge, and the collection of medicines is inconceivable. (65b) I have taught them all. Truly understand them skillfully. From the extensively arranged biography of the rebirths of Orgyen Guru Padmasambhava, the twenty-fourth chapter, the chapter on studying medicine. Ta Ta Nyra Gya Gya. The Chapter on Studying Medicine.
