《The Quintessence of the Three Profound Paths: A Pocket Guide for Daily Practice – The Heart Jewel of the Lord of Mantras》 《The Quintessence of the Three Profound Paths: A Pocket Guide for Daily Practice – The Heart Jewel of the Lord of Mantras》 《The Quintessence of the Three Profound Paths: A Pocket Guide for Daily Practice – The Heart Jewel of the Lord of Mantras》 For those who wish to practice the yoga of the three profound paths: I take refuge in the Lama, I take refuge in the Buddha, I take refuge in the Dharma, I take refuge in the Sangha! (Recite three times) For the benefit of all sentient beings, I will meditate on the profound path! (Recite three times) Visualize yourself as the Yidam deity. In the space in front of you, on a lion throne, lotus, and moon disc, is the Lama, the Bhagavan Amoghasiddhi (Unfailing Accomplishment), with a body the color of emerald, seated in the vajra posture. The left hand is in the meditation mudra, the right hand in the gesture of granting refuge, with a multi-colored vajra jewel marked with the syllable 'Sva' in the palm. From the white 'Hum' (हुं,摧伏) syllable at his heart on a moon disc, light radiates, inviting the Lama and all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to descend and merge. He becomes the supreme protector, the single essence of all refuge objects. With fervent devotion, recite: The essence of all Buddhas is the Lama's body, I prostrate to the Lama's body! The essence of all Buddhas is the Lama's speech, I prostrate to the Lama's speech! The essence of all Buddhas is the Lama's mind, I prostrate to the Lama's mind! (Recite as many times as possible) Emanate goddesses from your heart to make offerings. Om Guru Buddha Bodhisattva Argham, Padyam, Pushpe, Dhupe, Aloke, Gandhe, Naivedye, Shabda Ah Hum. Again, emanate goddesses from your heart, holding a damaru in the right hand and a skull cup filled with nectar in the left, visualize offering the inner offering, and at the end of the mantra, add: Pancha Amrita Ah Hum. The goddesses dissolve into the Lama, visualize the bodhicitta nectar descending, pleasing him with bliss, visualize offering the secret offering, and at the end of the mantra, add: Bodhi chitta Ah Hum. Then, visualize the wisdom of indivisible bliss and emptiness expanding greatly, offering the ultimate offering, and at the end of the mantra, add: A ho sukha Ah Hum. Recite: Guru Abhisincha Tu Mam. (Request the Lama to grant empowerment) After the request, from the three places of the Lama, the syllables Om (唵,ओम्,圆满), Ah (阿,आः,不生), and Hum (हुं,摧伏), light radiates, inviting the blessings of the body, speech, and mind vajras of all the Buddhas and their retinues to merge into you. Your own three places are marked with the three syllables Om, Ah, and Hum. The Lama's right hand touches your three places in sequence or simultaneously, and at the same time: From the Om syllable on the Lama's forehead, white light radiates, transforming into the syllable Om and dissolving into your own forehead, receiving the vase empowerment, purifying the defilements of the body, accomplishing the body of all the Buddhas, and generating the samadhi of the union of appearance and emptiness. From the ĀḤ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Roman transliteration: āḥ, literal meaning: Ah) at the throat of the Lama, red light emanates, The form of ĀḤ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Roman transliteration: āḥ, literal meaning: Ah) appears and dissolves into one's own throat. Having received the secret empowerment, the defilement of speech is purified, Transformed into the nature of the speech of all Buddhas, The Samadhi of clarity and emptiness united arises in the continuum. From the HŪṂ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Roman transliteration: hūṃ, literal meaning: Hum) at the heart of the Lama, blue light emanates, The form of HŪṂ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Roman transliteration: hūṃ, literal meaning: Hum) appears and dissolves into one's own heart. Having received the third empowerment, the defilement of mind is purified, Transformed into the nature of the mind of all Buddhas, The Samadhi of awareness and emptiness united arises in the continuum. From the three syllables of the Lama, various lights emanate, The forms of the three syllables appear and dissolve into one's own three places. Having received the fourth empowerment, the habitual imprints of obscurations are purified, Transformed into the nature of the Vajra Three Kayas of all Victors, The Samadhi of bliss and emptiness united arises in the continuum. Finally, the Lama dissolves into light and merges into oneself, The mind and wisdom become one, perfecting the great power of realization. Bliss and emptiness united, the Great Seal beyond intellect, One beholds the true face of the Lama, the essence of definitive meaning. Thus reciting, one rests naturally and relaxed in the state of the Great Seal of luminous bliss and emptiness united. Finally, one recites the dedication prayer 'In all my lives' and other auspicious prayers as appropriate. If one practices this without interruption, the root and branch vows will not be violated. If they are violated, they will be quickly restored. As said by Jetsun Rinpoche, those who wish to maintain the purity of mantra vows should make this the essence of their practice. This was written by the Shakya monk Ngawang Lekpa at Drakang retreat center, Samten Phuntsok Ling, for the ease of recitation for oneself and others. May it be virtuous and auspicious! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
