From a young age, he was very intelligent. He was proficient in both new and old tantras, and in the Abhisamayalankara of epistemology. Having listened to Shedkor Shangpa Shakya Wom (La), he was skilled in illusory wheels and activities, and possessed great power. In his youth, he went to China by order of the emperor. He was skilled in various arts such as Cham dance. Many people who needed to grow grain for the emperor requested the emperor to bring rain when there was a drought. So the emperor sent him there. He prayed to the Three Jewels, and as a result, it rained heavily. The emperor was very pleased and gave many gifts. He returned to Tibet with a large amount of wealth. Without giving anything to acquaintances and friends, he offered all the goods to the lama and sangha for the sake of his mother. In his later years, he received full ordination from Tsokpa Cholungpa. Originally named Dorje Wom, he was later called Dorje Pal.
