Tsongkhapa Lobsang Drakpa Tsongkhapa Lobsang Drakpa ༈ The glorious Tsongkhapa Lobsang Drakpa, the emanation of the venerable Manjushri, who holds the lineage of vows, was once the great Shravaka of the Bhagavan, the foremost of the Vinaya holders, the close attendant Ananda. Later, he took birth in many Panditas and propagated the clear teachings in India. In this land of Tibet, he was born in the lower Tsongkha region of Do-Kham, as the son of the brave and upright Ma clan, who favored the white Dharma, his father named Dara Khache Lumbu Ge, and his mother named Acho, a family of prosperous lineage. Two thousand one hundred and ninety years after the Parinirvana of the Teacher, in the Fire Bird year of the sixth Rabjung cycle, he was born. At the age of three, he received the Upasaka vows from Karmapa Rolpe Dorje, and was given the name Kunga Nyingpo. At the age of seven, he received the Shramanera vows from Chöjé Döndrup Rinchen, and was given the name Lobsang Drakpa's Glory. He was initiated into the mandalas of Vajrabhairava and Chakrasamvara, and matured into the Vajrayana path. At the age of sixteen, he was brought from Do-Kham to U-Tsang. In Drigung, he approached Chennga Drakpa; in Sakya, Lama Dampa Sönam Gyaltsen; in Bodong, Chokley Namgyal; in Narthang, Khenchen Lotsawa Dönzang; in Narthang Khenpo Kunga Gyaltsen; in Kyörlung Khenpo Losal; in Densatil, Chennga Drakpa Chökyi Drakpa; in Lhodrak, the great Siddha Lekyi Dorje, and other scholars and Siddhas of that time, and studied Vinaya, Abhidharma, Prajnaparamita, Madhyamaka, and the rough outlines of the old and new Dharma cycles of Sakya, Nyingma, Kagyu, and Shangpa. In particular, he relied mainly on Chöjé Döndrup Rinchen and Redawa Shyönnu Lodrö, and thoroughly studied Madhyamaka, Pramana, Vinaya, Abhidharma, and became the foremost of scholars. In the Yarlung assembly, Khenpo Kagyiwa Tsul Rinpa was the Khenpo, and in the Bijing assembly, Khenpo Shar Gönpa was the Acharya, and the Vinaya holder Sönam Dorje of Bijing was the secret preceptor. In the midst of the complete Sangha of the two assemblies and faithful devotees, he received the Bhikshu vows, and propagated the teachings through teaching, debate, and composition.

It is said that his writings also include about eighteen large volumes of collected works. At the age of fifty-three, for the sake of the flourishing of the Buddha's teachings and with the aim of leading the beings of the six realms to Sukhavati, he vowed and established the Great Lhasa Monlam Prayer Festival, offering to nearly one hundred thousand monks. The disciples requested him to build a monastery. He asked the great accomplished one, Lekyi Dorje (Karma Vajra), for a prophecy, who said, "Please ask my personal deity." (Lekyi Dorje said:) "On the slopes of the Empowerment Mountain, on the side facing the nunnery platform, countless monks will gather. That mountain is the Manjushri brothers (referring to three mountains). The sacred offering place of U-Tsang, Do-Kham, and China, is the support for accumulating merit, the refuge of all of Ngari and Changthang, monasteries will flourish in the ten directions." It is said that he spoke like this. Because the name of the monastery has the meaning of auspicious connection, "You will go from here to Tushita before Maitreya, and reside there, if the name of the monastery is also named Tushita, there will be an auspicious connection like you residing there." Just as he said, after the Monlam Prayer Festival ended, he personally went and, according to the Vinaya and the rules of the monastery, examined the land of Drok Ganden Nampar Gyalwai Ling, and built the monastery in the Earth-Ox year. He also built mind-made images of mandalas such as Chakrasamvara and Vajradhatu from pure gold, and also established offering practices. In this way, he extensively carried out the activities of the Dharma, and when he saw that the fortune of the sentient beings of this world had been exhausted, he had already completely entrusted the teachings to the omniscient Gendun Drup and Tashi Do, whom he had met earlier, at that time he gave them a yellow silk robe with a joyful smile. He gave a robe, a pandita hat, and a cloak to Gyaltsab Dharma Rinchen, actually letting him inherit the throne. At the age of sixty-two, in the Earth-Pig year, in the twelfth month (Tibetan calendar) or the first month of the Vinaya, the first month of winter, on the auspicious twenty-fifth day of the tenth month of the Tibetan calendar, when the dakinis gather, he ended the manifestation of the physical body and went to the pure land of Tushita. He also established the Great Five Offering Festival, which is filled with the excellent stream of butter lamps inside and out. His entire body was placed inside a silver stupa vase, and the silver stupa was offered.
