He received his novice and full ordination from Jamyang Lama Konchok Choephel. From a young age, while residing in the monastery, he was known as the \"solely virtuous one\" because he remained untainted by any potential violations of vows or natural transgressions that might arise due to circumstances. He went to Rawa and Loseling, among other places, and expertly studied the tenets of epistemology. He listened to all the scriptures and instructions from numerous spiritual mentors, including the Fifth Gyalwa Rinpoche and his own Khenpo Tri Rinpoche, and integrated them into his heart. He served as the Khenpo of Gyaide Drug for about fifteen years, and later went to Nyangto Palkhor Dechen Monastery as Khenpo.
