He wondered whether he would succeed in accomplishing the siddhi of Vagisvara (speech empowerment), and after examining it, he knew that he would succeed, so he practiced on the banks of the Ganges. He threw a red karavira flower that emitted sound and light into the Ganges. It was carried many yojanas in an instant, and then turned back upstream, and he drank it together with the water, and thus attained the great siddhi of Vagisvara. He gained the wisdom to understand the words and meanings of thousands of verses of scripture every day, so he was named Vagisvara. He excelled in the three activities of teaching, debating, and writing, as well as in sutra and tantra and all fields of knowledge. In particular, the Holy Tara showed her face and cut off his doubts. He became famous as 'the one who defeats the heretics.' The king invited him to protect the southern gate of Nalanda and Vikramashila.
