The Elder Upagupta. The Elder Upagupta. Then, Upagupta crossed the Ganges and went to the north. A householder named Vasuta built a monastery and invited him to stay there. He also offered to the Sangha of the four directions. He stayed there for the summer retreat and taught the Dharma, and it is said that a thousand Arhats appeared. Later, two merchant employees, Panata and Bharta, offered the Dancer Warrior Temple on the mountain called "Head" to Upagupta, and after venerating him with all necessities, he taught the Dharma, and many laypeople and renunciates saw the truth. Then, at another time, while he was teaching the Dharma and residing for tens of thousands of people, the evil demon rained rice on the first day in the center of the city, clothes on the second day, silver on the third day, gold on the fourth day, and a rain of the seven precious jewels on the fifth day. On the sixth day, the sinner himself transformed into the attire of a divine dancer. The sons and daughters transformed into the forms of divine song and dance. About thirty-six men and women appeared, with dance arrangements and various magical performances, and various beautiful songs and musical sounds, which captivated the minds of all the people, so that not a single person listened to the Dharma. Immediately, the Holy One, through miraculous power, blessed the sinner and his retinue to become old and ugly, with tattered clothes, rotting corpses tied to their heads, dead dogs hanging around their necks, emitting a foul odor, and causing vomiting just by looking at them. This sight caused all the people to feel disgusted and to generate even greater faith. Many people who had previously been encouraged to do good deeds gathered from the four directions. On the sixth night of his stay there, on that very night, he taught the Dharma, and on the seventh day, eighteen hundred million people saw the truth. Thereafter, he stayed in the Dancer Warrior Temple for as long as he lived. There was a cave there that was eighteen cubits long, twelve cubits wide, and six cubits high. Through the teachings of Upagupta, when a renunciate monk attained Arhatship, he threw a four-finger-long piece of wood into that cave and piled it up. In this way, the cave was filled with wood without any gaps, and near

Even when hidden, he completely entered Nirvana. The remains were also cremated by those trees, and it is said that after becoming relics, they were taken away by the gods. This was predicted by the teacher himself to be a nameless Buddha, and except that the body had no marks, it was placed in the sense of being equal to a Buddha in benefiting beings. It is said that after the teacher's Nirvana, there was no greater work of benefiting beings than this. During the time when Nyespa protected the Dharma, King Zhuxian's son Wangchen ruled for seven years. His son Zama Sha ruled for twenty-two years. Zama Sha ruled for a total of one hundred and twenty years, and he had three sons: Gyalwa, Lekgyal, and Gewa. The first believed in Ishvara, the second believed in the ascetic sage Kapila, and the third believed in the Buddha, so they argued every day. Their mother said: I make sure you don't lack food, clothing, etc., why do you argue? They said: It's not for food, it's for the teacher and the Dharma that we argue. The mother said: Then go ask the learned people. So they went to the Arhat Lama and told their stories in detail. The Arhat Lama said to them: The Buddha strives to benefit the world, and the Dharma is without harm. If bravery is a virtue, then should lions, tigers, etc. also become objects of offering? Peace of mind is a virtue. After saying this, all three developed faith in the Buddha. The son Gyalwa built a temple of statues in Varanasi. The son Lekgyal built a statue and a temple in the Auma Garden of Rajagriha. The youngest son, Gewa, built a great hall including the Gandhola and the Great Bodhi at Vajrasana, built by an artisan who was an emanation of a god in human form. The way it was built was: the materials for building the Great Bodhi and the artisans Budhagama and others stayed inside, and no one was allowed to enter for seven days. After six days, the mother of the three sons came and knocked on the door. Because it was not yet six days, they said they would open the door in the morning. The mother said: I am going to die tonight, now I can see the face of the Buddha on this earth, I...

Because of the passage of time, others could not discern whether this body image was similar to the Tathagata. Therefore, they said that the door must be opened. When the door was opened, the craftsmen had disappeared. After examining it carefully, it was found that this image was similar to all manifestations in every way, but there were three differences: it did not emit rays of light, nor did it teach the Dharma, it only sat still, and did not perform the other three actions. Therefore, it is said that because it had not been seven days, the special skills of the craftsmen had not been completely completed. Some believe that the right toe and the right-coiling hair were built later. The Panditas, however, believe that the body hair and clothing did not touch the body, so it was not completed. After that, the three brothers invited five hundred monks to reside in those temples and always provided them with their livelihood. They also offered necessities to the Sangha in the four directions. Elderly Protector Nyesé.
