The Third Council The Third Council ༈ Then, four hundred years after the Buddha's Parinirvana, in Shravasti, five hundred Bodhisattvas and sixty-seven thousand ordinary pandits gathered. The evil monk, an emanation of the wicked demon, along with his disciples, propagated false teachings. When the eighteen schools disputed among themselves, all the false teachings were refuted. The teachings of the eighteen schools were established as pure, and the Tripitaka was written down. This is the Third Council. The Third Council
