That is, for the first two years, he ate a single grain of rice; for the middle two years, a single drop of water; and for the last two years, he took nothing at all. At that time, the Buddhas of the ten directions gathered like a pod filled with sesame seeds, filling the sky, and shook their bells, saying in one voice, \"This meditation is not completely pure, nor is it the means to attain the ultimate. Your goal is clear light; looking at the face of the sky is supreme.\" Having heard this, he abandoned that samādhi and arose, left that body of maturation there, and with a body of wisdom, he became enlightened in Akanishtha through the five manifest enlightenments, and on the summit of Mount Meru, he taught the Yoga Tantras. Again, he entered into the body of maturation and appeared emaciated and weary. At that time, the village girls, Lekshéma and Gawatobma, offered him milk gruel made from the milk of a thousand cows.
