第四，精通工巧明的行为。 第四，精通工巧明的行为。 ༈ 第四，精通工巧明的行为是：由于父亲的敦促，学习工巧明和游戏娱乐等，以及亲教师等老师们的文字等。像这样学习的时候，从一个字到五百个字都献上，说“那些都知道”，当问及从莲花心等六十四种文字中学习哪一种时，老师们连名字都不知道，感到非常惊奇。圣者写下文字并给予，说“这是这个”，由于圣者的力量，每当说出一个字母时，就会出现具有出离心的成百上千无数法门，使老师和一万个孩子，以及另外两万两千人成熟于菩提。之后，净饭王心想，应该为这位年轻人娶一位妃子，于是派遣使者说：“把释迦持杵者的女儿献给菩萨吧。”对方回答说：“我的种族是嫁给精通艺术、剑术、投掷、摔跤技巧的人，而不是嫁给其他人。”年轻的菩萨得知后，宣告说：“这座城市里有谁能与我竞争艺术？”于是，生主天女的弟弟美喜，甘露食之子提婆达多，持杵者之子箭手等傲慢自大的释迦族人，以及前导之子星宿等具有强大力量的人们，为了艺术而聚集在一起。之后，通过比赛文字、算术、跳跃、游泳、赛跑、摔跤等，菩萨无人能及。之后，通过比赛投掷、射箭等，民众们从七个中射中一个和两个，提婆达多射中三个，象力千钧射中七个，都超过了目标，在任何艺术方面都变得无与伦比。

When he studied like this, he offered from one to five hundred letters, saying, "He knows those." When asked which of the sixty-four types of letters, such as the lotus heart, he should study, the teachers were amazed because they did not even know the names. The holy one wrote the letters and gave them, saying, "This is this." Through the power of the holy one, whenever a letter was spoken, hundreds of thousands of countless Dharma gates with renunciation arose, causing the teacher and ten thousand children, and another twenty-two thousand people to mature into enlightenment. Then, Śuddhodana thought that it would be appropriate to take a consort for this young man, and sent a message saying, "Offer the daughter of the Śākya Vajrapāṇi to the Bodhisattva." They replied, "My lineage is given to those who know art, swordsmanship, throwing, and wrestling techniques, but not to others." When the young Bodhisattva learned of this, he declared, "Who in this city can compete with me in art?" Then, the younger brother of the Queen of Beings, Delightful Beauty, Devadatta, the son of Amṛta Food, Arrow-bearer, the son of Vajrapāṇi, and other arrogant Śākyas, as well as the son of the leader, Constellation, and other powerful ones, gathered for the sake of art. Then, by competing in letters, arithmetic, jumping, swimming, racing, and wrestling, no one could compete with the Bodhisattva. Then, by competing in throwing, archery, etc., the people shot one and two out of seven, Devadatta shot three, and Elephant Strength shot seven, all surpassing the target, becoming unparalleled in any art.
