Mind Training Collection of Teachings LJ10, Dharma of Antidotes from the Stages of Mind Training of a Bodhisattva. Dharma of Antidotes from the Stages of Mind Training of a Bodhisattva. Dharma of Antidotes from the Stages of Mind Training of a Bodhisattva. The pang of compassion is the only medicine. Cutting through self-grasping is the only antidote. Protecting from attachment and aversion is the only protector. I prostrate to that which severs the root with antidotes. When disturbing emotions and thoughts arise, like chasing away birds with a scarecrow, focus on the object of observation and chase them away. Seize them and destroy them. When negative thoughts cling to the heart, like identifying enemies and thieves, distinguish their shapes and details, and thereafter have no more thoughts. When good thoughts rise as enemies, like an executioner disguised as a friend, as soon as you seize them, suppress them and kill them without hesitation. When laziness arises from wanting comfort, like a servant sleeping during harvest, there is no time to rest, whip yourself severely, and apply yourself to the work of liberation. When trying to achieve the glories of this life, like seeing a man-eating demon, immediately stop that work and flee far away from those undertakings that will not lead to defeat. When carried away by distraction and dullness, like seeing a corpse on the battlefield, strongly dislike friends and companions, and rely on solitary forests. When distracted by the demons of attachment and aversion, like seeing a mad dog and a poisonous snake, turn your back on the pleasures of samsara and flee to the secure ground of nirvana. When imprisoned in the prison of permanence, like a king tormented in a pit, repeatedly contemplate that death is uncertain and cultivate strong renunciation. When listening and contemplation go astray, like the words of an actor, contemplate repeatedly without practice, and give yourself a great scolding. Even if you strive in Dharma day and night, if the scent of worldliness still lingers, think that you are being controlled by a demon and cultivate the antidotes. Even if what you do is thought to be Dharma, if whatever you do goes astray, think that you are being controlled by a ghost and definitely offer a ransom to the Three Jewels. Even if you stay in the monastery of the lama, if you pretend to be like the khenpo, teacher, and friends, and Dharma becomes a disguise for attachment and aversion, think that it is from a demon and rely on the forest. Even if you meditate single-pointedly, if you still have not found liberation, then you have not found the fault in listening, and in contemplation, look at the profound sutras. The Dharma of Antidotes from the Stages of Mind Training of a Bodhisattva is complete. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
