The Instruction Manual of the Seven-Branched Mahamudra Transmitted from Jetsun Rechenpa The Instruction Manual of the Seven-Branched Mahamudra Transmitted from Jetsun Rechenpa The Instruction Manual of the Seven-Branched Mahamudra Transmitted from Jetsun Rechenpa is present. Homage to the Great Seal! The nature of mind, though diligently sought in all phenomena, cannot be found; this is the essence of emptiness. The radiance of awareness, inseparable from it, is the mind's co-emergent, primordially pure wisdom. Apart from this, there is not even a slight appearance of anything else; the appearances of forms and so on are wisdom, emptiness is the expanse, inseparability is the co-emergent, primordially pure wisdom of appearance. Thus, having been introduced by these two aspects, one should not strain the body, not prohibit speech, not bind the mind, but abide in the three ordinary states. 1. Relax and abide, let it be, take encounters into the path, that is, the three aspects of practice should not be separated from the three. 2. Do not prohibit appearances, do not abandon the path of means, do not abandon compassion, that is, the three enhancements should be taken as the path. 3. Do not expect, do not doubt, do not grasp, that is, the three faults and obstacles should be clearly identified again and again. 4. Afterwards, generate devotion to the lama, cultivate pure perception towards all, blend calm abiding and insight into one, that is, never separate from the three vows. 5. Spontaneously accomplished, without reliance, that is, bring the three of view and meditation to the ultimate conclusion. 6. If cause and effect are truly inseparable, then the two are inseparable, samsara and nirvana are inseparable, that is, the three inseparabilities are called the primordial essence, this is the ultimate. 7. Thus, this Mahamudra, which possesses seven branches, each containing three elements, can also be called pure wisdom, and can also be called possessing seven branches. This was written by the Dakini who came from the Lord Maitripa, Tipupa, Vajra, and the Great Glorious One. May there be auspiciousness!
