Chapter Eleven: Showing that Accidental Appearances are Pure Like Space. Chapter Eleven: Showing that Accidental Appearances are Pure Like Space. All is equal to space, the one bodhichitta. By grasping at duality, one is mistaken about the causes, effects, and existence of samsara. In the illusory appearances that are without foundation, maintain the absence of contact, traces, calculation, and attachment. The mind that should be abandoned when unwanted things befall you includes anger, displeasure, jealousy, strife, hatred, sadness, discouragement, sickness, suffering, fear of death and birth, and so on. When these arise as displays of energy, recognize them. Do not reject, train, transform, or accept them. Do not look at or meditate on them. Spontaneously let them be in their natural state, free from focus and distraction. The mind that is without traces, self-vanished, and vast like space arises from within, clear, radiant, and powerful. The awareness that is beyond yes or no is all-encompassing. The appearances that are without attachment are encountered. By resting in that state where there is nothing to grasp, the acceptance and rejection that have nothing to liberate vanish without a trace. The experience that is free from grasping and clinging bursts forth from within. This very space of awareness is vast from the beginning. Likewise, the mind that desires and delights in things such as pleasant accomplishments, happiness, relatives, sweet words, enjoyment, and agreeable places and directions—when the mind adorned with natural joy arises, recognize it. By resting in its natural state, it is spontaneously accomplished, uncreated, in the primordial dimension. The intermediate nature is to move, stay, tremble, and abide. Whatever arises, whether it is joy or displeasure, recognize it when it arises. By not accepting or rejecting it, the natural state is without discrimination. This is called the liberation of ignorance into great clear light. Even when intoxicated by sleep at night and so on, by lying down in a state free from focus and distraction, the coarse appearances subside, and so the grasping at them subsides. The subtle and extremely subtle, together with grasping, subside. The mind of awareness abides naturally in a state of equanimity and non-thought, free from hope and fear. Since it is the time when all thoughts are liberated into the dharmadhatu, it is said to be the liberation of samsara and nirvana. Sleep is also the great expanse of the self-arisen, primordial state. Since the energies dissolve as the basis into the dimension of essence, all the elaborations of grasping at displays are naturally pacified. It is the intention of effortless, self-arisen wisdom. Thus, the mind that is desirous, undesirous, or neutral—the three poisons—arises as a display of energy.

Jo! Arising from the Dharmadhatu and manifesting within the nature of the Dharmadhatu, since there is no movement apart from the Dharmadhatu, without any acceptance or transformation, as soon as one recognizes and abides in the Dharmadhatu itself, self-pacification, self-dissolution, and self-liberation are key. All afflictions, actions, and habitual tendencies are merely magical displays arising from the play of potential. Even taking antidotes and practicing the path of liberation are magical displays arising from the play of potential. Since both arise as primordial wisdom from the play of potential, recognizing the nature and abiding without alteration is key. Speed is equal, pace is equal, and fundamentally, movement is also equal. Since arising from conditions and being compounded, one does not transcend cause and effect. Therefore, self-abiding, letting be, and the repetition of cause and effect are precious. This is the supreme peak of the secret vehicle. Do not speak of it to those of inferior intellect; it is extremely secret. Due to the power of slander, the essential teachings are distorted. One falls into fabrication and wrong views. Those who divulge secrets will fall into endless evil realms. Therefore, the supremely secret vehicle is the lineage of kings. It is taught and entrusted to those virtuous and fortunate ones. In short, for whatever appears as objects, mind, and conditions, without applying antidotes or abandoning them through effort, self-abiding and letting be are the key to abiding in awareness. All happiness and suffering are merely the ways in which awareness manifests. Holding onto acceptance and rejection as two binds one to samsara. Whatever appears, objects are equal, merely clear before the senses. Whatever arises, mind is equal, merely the tracelessness of thoughts and awareness. Both are equal in the moment, merely affirmation and negation, binding. In meaning, they are ultimately equal, merely rootless appearances. Objects are equal in variety, merely traceless if examined. Minds are equal in appearance, merely like the sky if analyzed. Object and mind are non-dual, merely pure space. Whoever knows this is of the lineage of Kuntuzangpo. They are supreme sons of the Buddhas, holders of awareness with profound realization. Thus, all phenomena are equal in existence and equal in non-existence. Appearance is equal, emptiness is equal, truth is equal, falsehood is equal. Therefore, abandon antidotes, effort, clinging, and attachment, and rest in vast equality without objects! Rest in great awareness without mind! Rest in great equality of purity without fault! From the Treasury of the Dharmadhatu, the eleventh chapter, which teaches the purity of conditioned appearances as equal to space. Eleventh Chapter: The Chapter on the Purity of Conditioned Appearances as Equal to Space.
