JNLD384 The Collected Teachings of Ngawang Lodro Drakpa: A Brief History of How Samkhar Pel Tser Monastery Was Founded A Brief History of How Samkhar Pel Tser Monastery Was Founded A Brief History of How Samkhar Pel Tser Monastery Was Founded Supreme and noble one, holding the white lotus, a magical manifestation. Wholly transformed into the master of definitive teachings. Incomparable Dharma Lord, omniscient Jonangpa. Possessing the lineage of the Mugzin, glorious Dharma assembly. The great secret practice place arising from it. Like a collection of raga dust, brilliantly blazing with beauty. The Dharma center of Sutra and Tantra, Pel Tser Dharma Foundation Monastery. A brief account of how it came to be. Here, a brief account of how Samkhar Pel Tser Monastery, a branch of Pel Dzamthang Samdrub Norbu Ling Monastery, the lineage holder of the great Victorious Jonangpa, the omniscient Dolpopa's Dharma, was founded. It is said that the accomplished master Padmasambhava transformed the earth into a red color with the blood of subduing the Rakshasas, like a collection of vermillion dots on a precious golden mandala. This place, belonging to the north of Dzigzhung Lhamo Dathang, was prophesied by the mantra and secret mantra holder Awo Lama Tsultrim Dargye to be a secret mantra monastery. The initial foundation of the monastery was first established by the secret mantra holder Gesakor Lama Tokme. Not long after, the reincarnation of Shangton Sonam Drakpa, the Vajra Master of the Dzamtang Tsangwai Zimkhang, known as the emanation of Sangdak, the direct disciple of Ngawang Chokyi Pakpa, Kunga Lungtok Gyatso, who appeared as the embodiment of the wrathful one, completely rebuilt this Dharma center and upheld the definitive meaning of the practice lineage for thirteen years. After that, Kunga Nyendrak Gyatso, the incarnation of Sanying, who went to benefit beings at the end of time, excellently maintained the Dharma center for twenty-three years. Then, the great holder of the secret mantra Dharma lineage, our glorious Lama Kunga Ngakpal Zangpo, continuously maintained the Dharma lineage for about twenty-six years. In general, although the exact year of the initial establishment of this monastery is not clear, it is estimated that it has been about seventy years until now. During the time of the aforementioned individuals, the monastic community of this monastery, with nearly a hundred members, continuously practiced the generation and completion stages of the Kalachakra without interruption. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The annual Dharma assemblies include the fifteen-day Saga Dawa (fourth month of the Tibetan calendar) festival; the autumn Kalachakra one hundred thousand offering festival, lasting six days; the Hayagriva (horse-headed deity) grand practice of the retreat center, lasting seven days; the Vajrakilaya (wrathful deity) grand practice of the monastery's foundation, lasting seven days; the New Year Kalachakra assembly, lasting six days; the summer assembly, lasting four days; and the annual hail protection ritual, each lasting seven days. In addition, there are some rituals of the '朵' (a type of sacrificial ritual), which are held annually without interruption. Among these assemblies, the fixed offerings include: for the Saga Dawa festival, 524 jin (Chinese unit of weight) of butter, 108 jin of tea, and 2 'khal' (Tibetan unit of volume) of barley; for the New Year festival, 184 jin of butter, 23 jin of tea, 548 silver coins, and 6 'khal' and a little over 5 'bre' (Tibetan unit of volume) of barley; for the summer assembly, 550 jin of butter, 250 silver coins, one brick of tea and 23 jin, and a little over 3 'khal' of barley. The offerings for the retreat center include: 88 silver coins, and a piece of land with an area of one 'khal'. These are just seeds of how the Sangha (community) of Tashi Chokhor Tang, also known as Samar Pal Tse Monastery, strives to promote the three wheels of Dharma (hearing, thinking, and meditating). The reason for saying this is that in this wonderful practice holy place, a garden where lotus flowers bloom, filled with the nectar of teaching and practice, the young Sangha joyfully frolics, this amazing scene of joy is truly wonderful! This was written by Ngawang Drozang Gyatso and Tsezhung together. Auspicious! Table of Contents: A brief history of how Samar Pal Tse Monastery was established. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
