Collected Teachings of Ngawang Kunga Lodro NKL81: A Letter Requested by Namrap Longtsa Lhopa. A Letter Requested by Namrap Longtsa Lhopa. A Letter Requested by Namrap Longtsa Lhopa. Shri Sakyapa Ngawang Kunga Lodro Sangye Tenpai Gyaltsen Pal Zangpo, who embodies the conduct of body, speech, and mind of the fearless and glorious protector of the Dharma. This letter is addressed to all sentient beings, both visible and invisible, residing in the Dantok area, and especially to those residing in what is called Ladakh, the Seb Rong Gyalpo (King of Seb Rong). The contents of Dantok have been blessed by great and holy beings. In particular, some of the descendants of the Lhakhang Labrang, one of the four branches of the Sakya lineage, and especially the great master Kunga Lekpa, who has contributed to the flourishing of Dharma for all beings, as well as the mantra holder Chögyal (Dharma King) Ngawang Kunga Rinchen Tashi Drakpa Gyaltsen Pal Zangpo, requested that the administration of Dantok be passed down through his lineage. The master holder Tenpai Nyima (Sun of Teachings) then issued profound instructions clarifying what to adopt and abandon in the three times. Since then, the Garchen Tuthob Wangchuk (Great Encampment, Powerful and Mighty) has been in charge of the administration. Until now, Sakya has been sending lamas, officials, servants, horses, and supplies, with officials overseeing both the religious and secular affairs of the region. In general, many Indian and Tibetan scholars and accomplished masters, such as Guru Padmasambhava, have taken the life force of local deities and the eight classes of spirits, or offered tormas, and have given commands and made vows. In particular, the rulers of Dantok, the direct descendants of Sakya, and the incarnate Geshe Vajradharas, have repeatedly invited them through Sang (incense offering) and other rituals, and have instructed them to keep their vows and not to cause harm. However, some of them become resentful when people's actions are not in accordance with Dharma, and some, out of jealousy, disregard the law of cause and effect, causing people to get sick, livestock to die, and damage to the mountains and rivers. From now on, cultivate a firm conviction in the words of the root and lineage holders and the infallible truth of karma. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do not engage in any actions that contradict vows, create obstacles, or bring misfortune. Instead, be a conducive condition for all good things, such as longevity, health, increased wealth, and so on, growing ever greater like the waxing moon. If you do not do so, this is your Vajra of Vow. If you do not act as instructed, it will be as if threatening to cut off your head with words, and ultimately all teachings will be abandoned, and you will fall into a terrible state. Furthermore, in the tantras of Vajradhara (金刚持,Vajradhara), it is said: 'Those who harm the Dharma, and those who destroy the Guru and the Buddhas, should be reported to the Guru Buddha, and killed with compassion.' It is also said: 'One should not be kind to the wicked.' And: 'One should not approach the extremely evil and cruel with peaceful means.' Know that the wrathful deity of Vajrapani (金刚手,Vajrapani) accomplishes the deeds of all the Tathagatas (如来,Tathagata).' Therefore, transforming all appearances into fierce forms, through means such as summoning, binding, suppressing, burning, and killing, Vajradhara manifests as a wrathful Rakshasa (罗刹,Rakshasa) figure, offering flesh, blood, life, and breath in an instant with countless terrifying sights, and inflicting unbearable suffering, severe punishments will come. Therefore, do not transgress my instructions, and quickly generate virtuous aspirations for all Dharma and beings; this is of utmost importance. These words were written by Kunga Lodro (ཀུན་དགའ་བློ་གྲོས་) (Kun dga' blo gros) (Kun-ga Lodro), who possesses the three vows (三戒,trisamvara), in the chamber of the Labrang Yangtse (བླ་བྲང་ཡང་རྩེ) (bla brang yang rtse) (Top Floor Residence) of the Fourth Sakya Throne, named 'Jambuling Puntsok Palbar (འཛམ་གླིང་ཕུན་ཚོགས་དཔལ་འབར་)' ('dzam gling phun tshogs dpal 'bar) (Glorious Abundance of Jambudvipa), where many relics and essences of the Three Jewels (三宝,triratna) are enshrined. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
